Yesterday I started writing a JSE program that you could use to play around with the sound function, moving sliders, setting values, seeing what could or couldn't be achieved.
-=-=-
I got as far as Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release, and then I looked at what I'd written, and wondered..
Do I ..
A ) Carry on like this, but ultimately make something that's only useful for playing around with values, but that are then locked into the engine and you'd have to copy the numbers across yourself, but that you can't copy across easily because you'd want to copy them to JSE, but JSE's already in use, running this program.
or
B ) Rewrite the whole thing from start, inside the Javascript engine, but so that I can copy the result into the clipboard like how everything else works.
So I suppose I now have to rewrite everything I did yesterday, and the entirety of what I did yesterday is seemingly worthless.
Hurrah for realisations..
:/
There was also a lot of napping, and a bunch of TV watching with Mother, though no Bill and Ben was on.
[verse]
The decay. Oh the decay.
It's the bit between Attack and Sustain.
It's the value that's retaining the length of the note,
Until it all becomes released along the way.
The decay. Oh the decay.
Holding onto the note, for as long as you hope.
Then we slide down gently to the volume we love to hear,
And then release it 'til the moment that it's gone.
[break]
(A. .. D. .. S and R)
[chorus]
A. (A) D. (D) S and R, (S and R)
They're the volume parameters we love to adore.
They sustain and release us, They sure love to please us,
With their soulful attack to our ears.
Bring us A.D.S.R.
Through the years.
A.D.S.R through the years
(yeah)
[break]
[bridge]
The Attack, (bam bam) it’s the spark,
That ignites all of the musical arc.
It’s the start of a journey, so bold and so bright,
Sets the stage for our wonderful audio delight.
Decay takes its turn, so smooth and so slow,
Guiding the notes to wherever they go.
It’s the subtle transition. The soft little glide.
Leading the volume on a Sustaining ride.
(A. .. D. .. S and R)
[chorus]
A. (A) D. (D) S and R, (S and R)
They're the volume parameters we love to adore.
They sustain and release us, They sure love to please us,
With their soulful attack to our ears.
Bring us A.D.S.R.
Through the years.
A.D.S.R through the years
(yeah)
[break]
[outro]
So let the music flow, from Attack to Release,
Each note a journey, a moment of peace.
With Decay and Sustain, they craft every sound,
A.D.S.R. is truly the magic we’ve found.
Oh, A. (A) D. (D) S and R, (S and R)
You’re the heart of the music. You're our guiding star.
We’ll enjoy all your rhythms, through laughter and tears,
Thank you, A.D.S.R., for the years.
Thank you, A.D.S.R., for the years.
Int. Dave's Living Room - Late Morning
[Dave's still on the couch, but now surrounded by instruction manuals. Green's trying to fix Master Air Fryer]
Dave: I'm telling you, it's trying to communicate!
Green: It's a faulty display, Dave. Just like when a PC goes wrong. If it's showing an Error message, something's wrong.
Dave: No, no. ERROR could mean... um... 'Eternally Requiring Real Observed Respect'
Green: .. That's what you're going with?
Dave: Or what about 'Evenly Roasted Roasters Over Rashers'
Green: Or it could just mean 'Error'.
[Lady Computer displays a translation attempt]
Dave: See? Lady Computer agrees!
Green: She's displaying the actual manual, Dave.
Dave: That's what they want you to think.
[Master Air Fryer beeps sadly]
Dave: You're hurting its feelings!
Green: I used to fix computers for a living. I think I know when something's broken.
Dave: I dunno, Greenie, that bank went out of business pretty soon after the millenium bug hit it.
[Mrs Microwave beeps supportively from the kitchen]
Dave: Thank you, Mrs Microwave. At least someone understands.
Green: Great, now they're all at it.
Dave: They're showing solidarity!
[Lady Computer flickers a picture of a broken Johnny 5 from Short Circuit]
Dave: Not helping, Lady Computer.
Green: Look, if I fix Master Air Fryer, will you admit it was just broken?
Dave: Only if you admit you were wrong about the bank.
Green: *sighs* I need a coffee.
[End credits roll as Master Air Fryer's display changes from "ERROR" to "HIDE ME", but only when Green isn't looking]
