Yesterday I spent a good hour or so refamiliarising myself on how the Card functions function in Shoebox, and managed to get this far.
This far might look like it could possibly be a game, but it's really far from it, at the moment.
It doesn't work, it isn't playable, and I need to do a LOT more coding to get it functional.
I was halfway through coding the stacked decks manually when my head went "Errr, hang on Jay, this is Shoebox, and you have functions to do most of this"
So, um..
I had to read through old game code to try and remember how the heck I did half of this stuff.
It's functional now, though only up to this point.
And this point is where you pick a card from your hand and place it onto...

Oh, I haven't added the play stacks yet.
So, that's as far as that works.
.. or doesn't.
It really doesn't.
To think that, just a few years ago, (2019?!) I planned so far ahead with Shoebox. Why is it so hard, now? Shouldn't it be easier by this point?
To be honest, 6 years is probably a long time to have a selection of games gathering dust, even if they are inside a shoebox.
Is it time to refresh the Shoebox and give it a larger overhaul?
... hmmm...
Anyway, this is the start of this game, and the JSE game's coming together well enough, too. All should be golden for at least half of this month.
It's the other half that I really need to worry about, because I'm already running out of plans for the word "Stack"

Dave: Look at this! A hundred C64 games for only six hundred quid. That's like six quid each game.
Green: Dave, you already made one questionable bulk purchase. Also, that's quite expensive.
Dave: But these are guaranteed working!
Green: So were the copies of Count Duckula 2 you bought, and . Sure the cassettes work, and the data on them seems fine, and they load. .. But I still wouldn't count the games as working.
Dave: That was different. Look - they've even got a list!
Green: A list doesn't mean anything. You keep lists. Lists aren't always useful.
Dave: But they're so cheap...
Green: Six quid each is practically twice what they were back in the day. They're only Budget titles.
Dave: I could test them all, though. Imagine how much fun that would be!
Green: Are you buying these for your shop or for yourself?
Dave: I'll be more professional this time. Maybe make a spreadsheet with details on the games!
Green: Or maybe a website?
Dave: Like reviews?
Green: Yes, exactly like that. Instead of this whole crazy shop idea, why not just simplify things, buy some games, play them, and write about your experiences.
Dave: But DaRC needs stock!
Green: DaRC needs a proper business plan. It doesn't exist yet. You don't have a shop, you don't have stock. Really, there's nothing going on here but crazy wild ideas.
Dave: [hovering over Buy Now button] But...
Green: You don't need a shop, Dave.
Dave: But...
Green: For yourself. Build a website. Write reviews. Do things easy. You don't need to overcomplicate everything, all the time.
[End credits roll as Dave tries to convince Green that "untested" really means "definitely working"]
