Time to plan out the fourth "Stack" game for the month.
-=-=-
The first couple of games for the month of "Stack" have been puzzles. Word Stack was a simple word puzzle, and Stack to Enlightenment was a drop-puzzle with curious rules that lead it to a dead end.
The third game will be card based, and is coming along nicely, though I'm still not happy with the scoring. Not in a "dead end/Enlightenment" way, but more in a balancing the scoring so it makes for a nice set of scores way. It almost works, but right now you can over-power the scores by doing certain "cheat-like" things in the game.
I need to balance the scores so that certain events aren't as overpowering.
But that should be easy enough to tweak over the next few days, which means I can set aside a bit of time to start to figure out what the Patreon game for the month should be.
That's mostly what I did yesterday, and so far I have ...
Platdude with a jetpack.
I expect there'll be stacking involved. That is the theme of the month, after all.
And I want to make things a little frantic and action packed, especially after the previous three games being somewhat slow-paced.
So, Shooting.. Stacking.. Something.. I'm not sure.
I think I want meteors in this game, but I reckon that having meteors destroy your stacks might make the meteors a little too destructive.
Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of game I'm going to be making, here.
Maybe we'll find out together!

[chorus]
Alone on the moon with my jetpack,
I'm standing alone as the stars surround me. (It's cold out here)
Breathing the last of the oxygen in my tank,
There's no-one left to save me. (I'm all alone)
[verse]
I came up here for some peace and quiet,
Blasting off from the world below.
Throttling up through the stratosphere,
Until the lander separated to get me here.
(I'm down on the moon)
[chorus]
Alone on the moon with my jetpack,
I'm standing alone as the stars surround me. (It's cold out here)
Breathing the last of the oxygen in my tank,
There's no-one left to save me. (I'm all alone)
The band on my wrist is telling me I'm in danger.
There's only three percent in my airtank. (oh no)
I haven't got long, and the lander is damaged.
There's nobody to save me. (I'm all alone)
[bridge - spoken - interference - glitched]
Hello (hello) is that (that) [crackle] safe.
Your oxygen is (is) vapour [crackle]
Crates (Crates) [crackle] airtank
[crackle] thirty seven miles.
[crackle]
[Beep]
Int. Dave's Study - Morning
[Dave is seated at the desk. Green enters with a coffee.]
Dave: Seven reviews! Lucky number seven!
Green: I'm sure all those reviews will be sufficiently lengthy and in-depth.
Dave: Even better! Seven games, seven reviews, seven different scoring systems!
Green: Oh, no.
Dave: Count Duckula 2 has ducks and vegetables, Mario has pipes and mushrooms, and Sonic has rings out of chaos emeralds!
Green: Theming reviews to the games is all nice and everything, but when a game's iconography isn't that obvious, you're going to struggle.
Dave: And Pac-Man has ghosts out of power pills!
Green: What about something like Tetris? Blocks out of not-blocks?
Dave: That might be a tricky one, but I'm sure I can figure it out.
[Dave starts typing dramatically]
Dave: "Graphics: Yellow. Sound: Wakka-wakka. Gameplay: Occurs in maze."
Green: That's not a review, that's just... words.
Dave: Then for Space Invaders: "Five motherships out of eight possible bunkers!"
Green: Why is it out of eight? There's three bunkers in the game. But the numbers aren't even consistent between games. How are people supposed to compare scores?
Dave: They're not! It's artistic!
Green: That's not something to brag about.
[Dave tries to demonstrate Pac-Man movements by "chomping" with his arms.]
Dave: You're going to have to start taking more photos. These reviews would be awesome with more photos.
Green: Maybe you should stick to easier games to photograph, then?
Dave: Good idea! Next review: Chess!
Green: Please don't tell me..
Dave: "Six pawns out of two possible kings!"
Green: That's not even...
Dave: I'm gonna need a horse for the photoshoot
[End Credits roll as Dave tries to explain his scoring system using a whiteboard and several different coloured markers]
