As I continue to work on the new Tilemap engine for JSE, I've realised I'm going to need to rewrite my "Wall Tile Generator" to match the new methodology.
-=-=-
The Sprite Generator has a "Top Down Walls" function which creates a specific type of wall sprite.
They're actually based on what I use in the Alien Deathmatch games, and as lovely as they are, they're not "quite" right for making walls that are akin to Pacman Maze style walls.
That is, they're kinda inverted in a weird way. They're more interior walls, than exterior ones, and so when you use the "TileOutline" command, they don't properly line up, or look correct.
Yesterday I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why the walls looked weird and didn't quite fit, until I realised exactly what it was.
It was the art, not my code! My code's just fine
I need to make a new generator that can draw better styled walls, and maybe incorporate glowing pacman style maze walls, and other sorts of walls into the mix, whilst I'm at it.
So that's what I'm going to be tackling for as much of today as I can, to try to take my mind off of looking out the window waiting for the postman to bring me a Switch 2..
...
Yep, that's what I'll be doing.
Ooh, and there's a Switch 2 upgrade for No Man's Sky. Oooooooooh!!
Walls. (Walls)
The walls are all around me.
(dibbie deep deep, dibbie)
Doors. (Doors)
The doors are in the walls.
(dibbie de-deep deep, dibbie)
[break]
Chairs. (Chairs)
The chairs fit in the rooms,
but only if they're smaller than the doors,
Or you'll have to take the doors off.
(take the doors off)
(take them off)
[break]
What about the table,
Will it fit into the room?
Will we have to take it all apart.
The legs are only screwed on.
Get me a wrench. (Hand me a spanner)
Put all the nuts down somewhere safe.
Let's break it down into the pieces,
So they all fit through the door.
(yeah!)
[break]
Walls. (Walls)
The walls are all around me.
(dibbie deep deep, dibbie)
Doors. (Doors)
The doors are in the walls.
(dibbie de-deep deep, dibbie)
[break]
[bridge]
I wonder where the windows are.
There's only walls, and sometimes doors.
There isn't actually even a floor.
I guess this room needs oodles more.
So bring in all the furniture,
But don't forget the carpet,
Then we'll sit down once the room is done,
And look at all the walls.
[break]
Walls. (Walls)
The walls are all around me.
(dibbie deep deep, dibbie)
Doors. (Doors)
The doors are in the walls.
(dibbie de-deep deep, dibbie)
[Dave is lounging on his sofa, intensely focused on his brand new Switch 2]
Green: We were all worried. Is this all you're doing, just playing a game?
Dave: I'm allowed a day off. It's my business.
Green: It's all of our business if you're not there.
Dave: No, I mean, it's MY business. I'm the boss.
Green: Oh.
Dave: What did you want, anyway?
Green: Barbara was wondering if the ScrunchyTea should have any salt in it.
Dave: Salt?
Green: Yeah, it's a Stock. It's not going to work with Sugar is it?
Dave: I guess.
Green: Should we put those little salt packets on the tables? We don't have any salt packets.
Dave: [not looking up from his game] Should we?
Green: Maybe you should order some, just in case.
Dave: [still gaming] Hang on, just got to finish this level...
Green: Dave, you've got a shop full of people drinking favoured meat "tea" through straws. The least you could do is focus on the task in hand.
Dave: I am. This level is definitely my focus.
Green: You're not even listening, are you?
Dave: No sugar. More salt. Maybe vinegar?
Green: Oh no.
Dave: Salt would affect the protein variables! Like when you're debugging code!
Green: And we're off.
Dave: We could call it ScrunchyTea: Saline Edition!
Green: No, Stop Dave. I meant just having salt condiments on the tables, not a whole special Supreme Salty version.
Dave: [putting down controller] I need to get to the shop.
Green: I thought you said it was your day off.
Dave: But the molecular structure...
Green: [pushing Dave back onto sofa] Finish your game. The shop hasn't exploded yet.
Dave: Yet?
Green: If you go rushing in with salt and vinegar concoctions, who knows what might happen.
Dave: But...
Green: I'll go chat with Barbara. You.. order some salt, when you get a minute.
Dave: SALT!
[End credits roll as Dave returns to his game while mumbling about salt crystals]
