Let's keep going!!! We're nearly there. (I think!)
-=-=-
It's taken a good number of hours for today's selection*, so I'm going to go even quicker through the list!!
(* yesterday. I'm not writing this blog last night, honest!)
1. Greenie's Heroic Adventure - Fixed up good.
This one took a lot of scaling maths to get things back to the way they oughta be, but everything ended up working well enough in the end.
Most of the issues were down to those scaling rectangles, though I did spend a good twenty minutes or so looking elsewhere before going "D'oh, it's the scaling!!!"
Fixed.
2. Traxicle - Audio Buffer
Traxicle uses a ton of different volumes, and if you've enjoyed the original Browsercade version, you'll probably have grumbled that the audio was a little bit .. um.. wonky?!
I fixed this exact problem in JSE about a year ago, so it was actually a really simple copy+paste. See, this whole "globals everywhere" thing.. It does sometimes work!
3. Up on the Battlements - Seems fine
No issues at all, here, that I've noticed.
4. Kabooma Looma - Seems fine, now.
The whole engine needed a rejigging due to those darned globals that keep getting in the way, all the time!!
5. Destination Starship - Seems fine
Though this seems to be fine, I definitely need to stress test this game a bit more. I'm not convinced it's working the way it should do.
6. Baby carries a Watermelon - Seems fine
Though I do need to play through this one a bit more. Good grief, this game's slow.
Have I mentioned that I hate slow games!?!
7. Blockman on Ice - Seems fine
This one had a heck of a lot of scaling issues, but I think I'm getting used to what needs fixed on each game, now!
8. Optimal Spring - Seems fine
No problems at all, here.
9. Space Popcorn - More of the Sprite Quirk
That sprite quirk keeps popping up, where it seemingly isn't quite loading the spritesheet into memory correctly.
Why though?
10. Save the Kumquat - Seems fine
11. Rotational Defence - Seems fine
12. Pixie Bubble - Seems fine
13. Energy Warrior - Seems fine
The tweaks I've been doing over the past couple of days have meant these games now run without any issues whatsoever. Hurray!!
14. NeonPlat
This game was having a ton of issues, and I couldn't quite figure out why.
.. Until I realised it was the Blend Mode, trying to make the Neon Glow effect, and it all slotted back together again.
That Sprite Quirk was tripping me up a bit, though. I'd fix up the Blend, and things still wouldn't show up, making me think it was something else!!
15. Cosmic Gardener
Lots of scaling issues, here, but got there after a little tweaking.
Turns out I used a ton of rectangles in this game, to create the grass. How odd!
16. Take this Torch - I *think* this is working, but something doesn't quite feel right.
I might need to revisit this game once we're at the end of this pass. I'll jot it down on the re-look list.
[verse]
High up on the battlements,
The proto plat dude leaps between the spikes.
(dislike) His grand adventure,
Bringing him to knights that hold a jousting stick.
(watch him go) He'll leap along from stone to stone.
On his grand adventure through the turrets.
(leaping onwards) Why is he carrying on?
I do not know. (why don't you know)
I do not know.
[chorus]
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, So high above.
(doo doo doo doo do-doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo do-do-doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go to where it is that you're heading.
(doo doo doo do-do-do-doo)
[break]
[verse]
He'll continue with his yellow suit,
Leaping high over knights with their spears.
As they guard all the turrets that they're meant to be watching,
Proto Plat dude will be happy and free.
Leaping over their heads.
(doo doo doo doo)
[chorus]
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, So high above.
(doo doo doo doo do-doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo do-do-doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go to where it is that you're heading.
(doo doo doo do-do-do-doo)
[break]
[bridge]
The wind is swirling around your face, and the spikes are all high within this place.
I wonder if maybe you could find a new way to be leaping up high with the knights, today.
[break]
[chorus]
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, So high above.
(doo doo doo doo do-doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo do-do-doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go to where it is that you're heading.
(doo doo doo do-do-do-doo)
[outro]
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, So high above.
(doo doo doo doo do-doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go on, Go Proto Plat Dude.
(doo do-do-doo doo doo doo doo)
Go, Go, Go, Go to where it is that you're heading.
(doo doo doo do-do-do-doo)
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Saturday Morning
[The shop is heaving with customers. Dave is darting between arcade machines, while Paul constantly refers to a laptop showing the timeline spreadsheet. Olivia is restocking alarmingly empty timeline shelves.]
Dave: No, no, the Neo Geo games are over there. It wasn't until well past the Spectrum era. They'll be next to the... Paul, where did we put Metal Slug?
Paul: That dead slug from yesterday?
Dave: No, the game, Metal Slug.
Paul: [consulting spreadsheet] According to the timeline, it should be... hold on... row 394...
Customer A: I just want to know if it's two or four players!
Dave: Paul will help you find the game.
Customer A: I don't want the game. Just checking for information, really.
Green: [from the ScrunchCake counter] Four! It's definitely four!
Dave: Maybe I need another spreadsheet for that?
Paul: Can you not just add the player numbers to the current spreadsheet, please? It's getting chaotic enough.
[A queue forms at the ScrunchCake counter]
Customer B: Ooh, is that the Purple one everyone's talking about?
Green: We have lovely vanilla, or strawberry...
Dave: [shouts from the timeline side of the shop] I told you people love the purple!
Customer B: Yes please, two of the purples.
Green: OK, but be sure you've got someone with you when you try it.
[Paul is still scrolling through the spreadsheet]
Paul: Dave, this timeline has Gameboy games listed under "Future Predictions".
Dave: Those are legitimate projections!
Olivia: Can't we just put labels on the shelves like normal shops?
Dave: We do have labels. What row are you on?
Paul: Sorry! [to Customer A] 394's over this side.
[End Credits Roll]
