You'll have to wait a few more days for the Fruit Bowl

-=-=-

Although I did finish off the next game, yesterday, I've opted to keep it on hold, and release it on "AGameAWeek Monday", so I'm not having to juggle another game before Monday.
Honestly, it feels like it's been a crazy busy week, this week, but I'm pretty sure it's just the exhaustion from the past two months of endless heat, and the lack of sleep catching up on me.
I'm worn out, I'm tired, and any "switch off" time I can find right now is being graciously accepted.

Meanwhile...

I managed to squeeze in about an hour of Donkey Kong Bananza last night. (Battery got to about 87%)
I played enough to reach level two, and my initial impressions are..

1. Gosh, it really is apparent that this is the Super Mario Odyssey team. It feels extremely familiar!

The controls feel a teensy bit wrong on first play. I'm sure I'll get used to them, but at least there's a logic to them..
A is your jump button, whilst the three other face buttons are "Dig"
B digs down, X digs up and Y digs in front of you.
That's nice.
That's reminiscent of a certain game having two jump buttons..
I reckon they pinched that..

Right trigger grabs things, and then you can either tap to insta-throw, or hold to aim, which works really well, but can be a little RSI-triggering because I'm doing thumb and finger quickly, (grab (Trigger) , jump (A), throw (Trigger) ) whilst also having to aim with the right thumbstick. Hmmm..
I might see how easy that is to change in the settings.

2. The voxel landscape/destruction on the first level felt exactly as I expected it to feel. If you've played No Man's Sky and used the terrain tool, it feels a LOT like that. Except once I reached level two..
.. Very very soon after reaching level two..
Another game sprang to mind.

Worms 3D, anyone?

I'd forgotten that that used Voxel destruction to work, and as soon as I saw the familiar landscape, it brought the whole game back to mind.

I miss that game.
I wonder if it's still playable on my current setup?
Hmm..

The goal of each stage seems to be to "destroy the big blob thing", which involves defeating the boss that guards the key, then using the key and destroying the blog thing. Or at least, I've had to do that a couple of times, so I think that's it. Maybe there'll be different objectives the further you go.
There's also a myriad of bananas scattered around, in an almost identical way to how the Moons were in Odyssey, and the gameplay is about navigating the level in much the same way, except this time you get to smash things up as you go.

So far : Enjoyable!
