First up, I managed to get a decent amount of pre-work done on an upcoming PlayFiveWords game. With a little bit of AI, but mostly having to read through hundreds of lines of phrases, I gradually made my way through the myriad of text, and got out the other side.
I now have a nice selection of phrases that I can use, and a whole boatload of randomised Five-Words that are used to make up (or rather, snip down...!) the phrases.
All signs point to this being a nice little addition to the FiveWords collection.
Meanwhile...
As well as that, I did a nice amount of work on the Menu system for JayBox, the new framework for SmileBASIC. The new version of the Game Titlescreen has an interesting new addition. I'm not 100% sure whether I should implement it on Browsercade. If nothing else, it makes a mockery of the Top 10/Last 10 scoreboard methodology.
But it does allow for a few interesting new developments, which .. I'm not quite ready to talk about just yet, because I'm bound to bugger it up, but ..
Yeah, if I added those to Browsercade, too, it could be quite a fun addition.
It all starts with "Start".
So, yeah, it was an interesting enough day, and I think I've a couple of nice new things coming along here.
Today.. . Getting that FiveWords game working for tomorrow.
Start, make it go, hit the button, high and low, set it off, have a play, pull the plunger, win the day.
Make it start.
Start

Start the game, really try, Insert Credit if you die, Have another little go, Play another round or more.
Make a start.

It only takes one more credit, don't you know, to reach the final boss.
Just one more coin inserted and you'll be the king of all who play.
Your friends will be astounded by the skill that you will show,
And then you'll leave them all in silence as you blast the boss away.
Start
[beep]

Gather coins, shoot invaders, tread the path, and seek the dangers, blast the robots, dodge the cars, eat the pills and see the stars.
Make a start.
[Dave and Green are setting up a stall. Dave has a tray of fresh glowing purple ScrunchCakes.]
Dave: Sunday! Always a great day for business!
Green: I think that might literally be against church principles, Dave.
Dave: Nonsense. Vicar loves our ScrunchCakes.
Green: Are you sure we should be selling these after yesterday?
Dave: Of course! The Vicar specifically requested them!
Green: He did?
Dave: [doing an impression of the Vicar] "Gosh, David, we've missed your ScrunchCakes at the church in recent weeks."
Green: That says nothing about the glowing purple ones.
Dave: I'm sure he meant it. He was just being subtle. That's what he does.
Vicar: [approaching] Good to see you today, David, and Martin. Oh my... those are rather... vibrant.
Dave: They glow in the dark too! Perfect for midnight mass!
Mrs Hodgkins: [from nearby cake stall] Are those safe to eat?
Dave: Of course they are! Would I sell anything dangerous?
Green: Do you want me to answer that honestly?
Dave: They're scrumptious to eat, amusing to look at and light up a room. The kids love them!
Green: That's what worries me.
Vicar: Will we be seeing Mrs Thompson, this morning?
Green: Last I heard, she was still trying to scrub bits of purple out of her hair.
Vicar: Oh, that's a shame.
Dave: Want to try a Purple Pumpkin Scrunchin', Vicar?
Mrs Hodgkins: I think my Victoria sponge might be safer.
Dave: Safer, maybe. But does it glow?
Green: That's not actually an advantage in food, Dave.
Dave: Everything's better when it glows!
