Dungeon Badger!!! Blog
18th February 2010
When I first started to think of "A game that uses Badges" the name "Dungeon Badges" stuck in my head, and slowly but surely evolved into Dungeon Badgers.
Over the course of the week (during which I was finishing off Centipong 2) the idea had evolved to include a garden, a house, a cat, and of course.. mushrooms and... arrghh! A snake!

Today's post is a brief description of the game that was in my head, before it got thrown out and replaced with an idea that could be drawn a wee bit quicker!
-=-=-

Starting with a Badger, underground, you would make your way through the various tunnels, up to the overground. Up there would be a nice big lawn and a house.
Somewhere in the patch is a small mushroom.
If you eat the mushroom, you will die. Because there would be no more mushrooms.
Instead, you must leave the mushroom to spread itself, and grow to become more mushrooms.
Meanwhile, a cat guards the garden. The cat is not scared of the badger.
The badger is too weak.

So, back in your tunnel you go, and after a short time hunting you'd find "The Claw".. (I kept that!)
The claw lets you dig more tunnels (I kept that, too!) and can also be used in fights with the cat, should they occur.
You wait for the mushroom to grow, and dig around some more.
Maybe you'd find The Lantern, so you can have a peek outside whilst it's dark. It's safer when it's dark, the cat spends most nights indoors.

The Torch can be used with The Flame to create small cosy lit areas within your underground dungeon.
The Seeds can be used to grow additional mushrooms, The Tape could be used to patch the small hole in The Sprinkler, and a whole ecosystem of mushrooms would spring to life.
The Sprinkler could even be used to scare off the cat!

Then the snake would come along to make life that much more miserable for you!

and so on, and so forth. Your adventurous ecosystem would continue to thrive, and more badges would probably have sprung to mind as the game continued to grow.

Alas, I cannot draw!
And I definitely can't animate!
So the whole game stopped at a fairly early stage.
What a shame.

Dangit..

If anyone wants to attempt this, feel free..
