Today's plan
Make a Font Add a Baddy How much of the plan did I manage to actually bother to do?!? -=-=- -=-=-=-=-=- Font, Done! It's the Amstrad CPC font! yeay! It's been rescaled and tweaked a bit so it leaves gaps around the edges for all the nice neonblur stuff, then that's all been done with good old fashioned cheap-ass PaintshopPro7 filters. (edge detect, gaussian blur, layers, etc) True, that's a bit lazy, but it worked out nicely enough, and looks pretty decent in the game. Next up, write a Bitmap Font routine that adds the extra blurry glowyness, and also deals with the Ink stuff. If you look at my PlayMyCode games, you'll notice I've started to use the Amstrad CPC's Colour Palette a lot. Seemed handy at the time, and.. well.. now I guess I'm stuck with it!! NeonPlat Adventures will also use the palette, and has a nice new Ink function will be used to draw sprites using those colours, whilst also giving little colour tweaks as it goes, depending on the grid references.. Basically, an object at grid 4,4 will have a slightly different hue than an identical object at 8,8.. Keeps things a little less samey. .. hopefully.. So, with the font in, and the new text function sorted, I figured I might as well spend an hour or two doing object AI. Most of it was a copy/paste job of the player AI, but with obviously changes for "blindly wandering about", as opposed to being controlled. A few tweaks for each different object's speeds, and bouncyness, and.. blimey, all that seemed to work rather well, too. View on YouTube 2 Months Left.
