Phase Three Blog
17th October 2011
Phase One was the simple test engine I release WAY WAY back in the very early stages of this humongous project.. .. last month!
Phase One was a basic engine, with simple platforming mechanics.
Taking the rules of NeonPlat and adding a scrolling background, I wanted to judge if it'd be enjoyed.
True, one piece of feedback was a little downbeat, but on the whole it's been well appreciated.

You can't please everyone, but the original's not broken, so hopefully that makes up for it.

Phase Two was the proper Beta edition.
This appears to have gone down well, but without it being a fully fledged download, I'm precariously balancing all my comments on the shoulders of those who already seemed to love the game.
eek!-=-=-

Phase Three began over the weekend.
We're into the final stage, and have less than a month to go until the final release of NeonPlat Adventures.

I've been adding fixes based on comments, and today I spent a good while adding an extra 5 nasty bad guys, and a nice new big evil boss!
woot!

To be honest, these should be happening quicker now that I've done the basics.
Annoyingly, I'm now coming up with enemies that have new movements.. That means I have to keep heading back into the AI engine, tweaking the new guy's movements, and then "testing" *cough* over and over to be sure they're right.

... and each test is taking longer and longer

I need to do a few new backgrounds tomorrow, I think. I'm running low on those.
Also, the scores.
As anyone with the beta will happily tell you (pay attention to Jiro25's video!), the scores are pretty mental, giving the player odd inexplicable scores at random occasions.
I'm going to remove ALL the scores, and redo from start, making everything a little bit more organised.
Hopefully it should be better!

Hmm.. What else?

More objects, methinks.
AuthenticKaizen suggested some nice ones last week, but I was too busy rushing to finish the beta at the time. I'll try to shove a few more of those in.
Oh, and that wall weirdness really needs to be fixed!

Crazy bug-riddled Jay-style platformer code!
