Alan Suggests

There's always VirtualBox for a retro dev environment, although that doesn't make it easier to find the old versions of the dev kits.

v1.03 - Added Blackjack to the Card Game selection

Blackjack, Pontoon, 21. Call it what you will.
The aim is to reach as close as you can to 21, without going over.
Once you're done, AL will have a try, and whoever gets closest is the winner.

The first to reach three wins is declared the overall winner of the game.

You can Play Blackjack in the Card Games section of the Shoebox.

Try to score as close to 21 as you can, without going over.
Once you've stuck/bust, AL will take his turn, trying to beat your score.
The closest to 21 wins the round, and the first to three wins is the overall winner.

Sifting through my giant todo list, I came across "Try out Electron", so I've done that, this morning..

After about half an hour of waiting for various things to install, and then running them, the result was actually really quite nice and fluid, and looked good.
I ran the electron-packer, and .. crikey, that takes a while, doesn't it..
Eventually, I ended up with what can only be described as "A folder", in which there were several million files all scrawled all over the place, including several .dll files.
I'm not sure exactly which of those are needed, but I tried running the exe in it's own directory and ERROR!!, so I guess everything, then..

In all, the download for Browsercade, as it currently is, will be 64.2Mb.

To put that into perspective, Browsercade is currently 1.03Mb
.. So.. Um..
Yeah, I don't think I'm going to be using that!!

I honestly can't fathom why Firefox's cache isn't doing what it's supposed to.

It's the little things..

Like how the game isn't saving highscores, and the onscreen scores aren't quite readable enough, and the music doesn't end during the game-over screen, and ..
The little things..

Still haven't actually coded the game, yet, either! This is all Framework stuff.

Of course.. There's still one big issue to tackle..

Allen writes..

Not sure if you still develop for OUYA but I play all of your games on there and I had a game idea that I wanted to share with you.

Oh, how I miss the OUYA.

Thought..
"Why is Browsercade not working in Firefox?"

Further Thought..
"It SHOULD work.. Shoebox works, and it's practically the same script.."

Further thought..
"Uhoh..!!"

I think, today, I'm going to focus on getting the final Framework touches of Browsercade done.

Step One will be working out how plausible buffer-drawing is, whilst in a html canvas.
