Y7 - D156 : Waiting for Spikes
5th June, 2015
If there's one thing I hate, it's waiting for stuff!!
I'm a very impatient person, and have gotten used to things moving along at a fast AGameAWeek-like pace.
I now have TWO games, waiting for Apple Review, and quite frankly it's doing my head in!
All this waiting. I can't hack it!!!
I'm now pondering what my next project's going to be. Should I continue on this Gap-Year thing, and make something else that's way bigger than normal? Or should I do a couple of quicky AGameAWeek style games to tide me over?
I'm not sure what I'll do, but sitting here waiting, and waiting, with not much else to do, I do feel like I oughta be doing something productive.
I can't stand the waiting!!!
For what it's worth, although I do kinda like the opening "Swoosh-jingle" sound, I feel it could be a little better. Expect my next few trailers to include marginally different versions until I settle on the right one!!
Oh yeah, that reminds me.
The lovely-ish 3D starfield/logo thing.
I did that, yesterday, too. You know, because I'm bored and waiting, and bored.. and waiting..
I used Blitz3D, created a box, plastered the logo onto it, created and duplicated more white boxes for stars, added a camera and a gentle swoop, added a lamp, then rendered it all at 2000x2000 pixels.. (Which is the highest resolution I could get to run!!)
.. Unfortunately, Blitz3D only renders to bitmap files, so I ended up with 719 frames, each at 11Mb!!
Next, I used ffmpeg to gather the images and re-render them to an .mpg video that would work in iMovie on the Mac, which converted 8Gb of images down to 4Mb!!!
Basically, take the images in the folder, assume they're 60fps, render them at 60fps with the following settings, to output.mp4.
And it worked a treat.
Or perhaps people will now expect me to be going 3D, which I'm not! Oops!
Daily Doodle : Keeping a Journal
Seems like Platdude's taking my cue, and starting his own daily journal!
MailbagToday's mail comes from .. "QuackIAmADuck" (Between you and me, I don't think that's his real name!)
Greenie does indeed enjoy St Patrick's Day, but only because it gives him a good reason to get completely and totally rat-arsed.
Dave doesn't agree with such a sentiment.
He doesn't believe that you need an excuse to do that.
If you'd like to stuff my mailbag, you can do so right here, at http://bit.ly/AGAW_Mail. Send comments, questions, game ideas, thoughts and more, and they'll probably turn up here, eventually.
