Off to the Neuro we go! Weeee, Brains!!!

-=-=-

Yesterday was my annual appointment with the Neuro-docs. A simple trip to sit and chat for a few minutes, let them see I'm not hallucinating into the land of insanity, and that I seem to be doing well enough.

This is the fourth new doctor I've seen in as many years, for this annual checkup, though last year's doc, and the one from three years ago, were also in the clinic, but the clinic was quite busy, so we ended up seeing somebody new.

The new doc was quite nice, and did that thing that all the docs do, reading up on the horror tale of my trauma.

She had a good read, then talked to me about it. Mum was there, too, and we all discussed how different I had been acting when the 2020 chaos happened, and how the last doc we saw last year had discussed the speed at which that would've happened.

The shunt broke down, started bashing my brain, and it would've been incredibly fast from Zero to Insanity..

In the end, the new doc suggested, just as last year's doc, that an MRI wasn't likely to be helpful, as a breakdown is either not happening, or has already happened. The MRI could literally be done minutes before a shunt breaks down and wouldn't see any issues whatsoever.

But she could see from my records just how horrific the 2020 event was. She said she'd talk it over with last year's doc and the two would decide if an MRI "for peace of mind" is warranted..
It probably isn't. But it's a real shame there's no easier way to judge this sort of thing.

A magical portable MRI hat would be awesome!

But otherwise we all agreed things weren't "Any worse", even if they aren't better, and that's probably as good as I can expect.
After our lovely chat, she said she'd likely see me again next year, though goodness knows who we'll actually end up seeing next year, and we left.

Me and Mum then had a sausage roll from the hospital cafe, and then we came home.

All in all it was roughly 3 hours there and back, and a 5 minute chat in between, so..
.. yay .. That's lovely.

Along the way, as we passed through one of the areas on our Bungalow-Hunt-List, and we discussed whether we'd've been better off moving closer to the hospital, but how doing that would've moved us even further away from loved ones.
For the sake of a rare 1-a-year appointment (god willing, no more than that!) it probably wouldn't have been worth a move in that direction.

We are happy where we are.. .. Just.. . could've done without the 3 hour roundtrip, is all

.. Today I have to go and get my Covid jab, but thankfully that's just a short walk down the street, not a 3 hour round trip!

Code : 0/5
Worked : 0/5
Fun : 5/5 - It was nice to get such a long trip, but I sure am glad there wasn't too much of a walk, in-between!
