Did a lot of work on the new Sound command, yesterday, and actually got a fair amount of functionality out of it.
-=-=-
I'm still not crazy on the command set, just yet, but I can get it to generate up to about 15 sounds per frame without really impacting the FPS. On my Quest 3 (the slowest thing I have, as far as JSE goes), I can actually hit about 30 sounds per frame, comfortably, though if there's gameplay going on, too, it can get a bit slower.
On the Rogally, I can happily do about 30, and on the MacBook I can hit around 60 sounds.
Which is nice!!
I still have a ton of functionality to add to it, especially in terms of "noise", where everything sounds identical. I can get pink, white and brown noise, but I can't for example, have a splash sound that starts at pink and ramps down to brown. That doesn't seem to be easy to do, whilst keeping the framerate up.
I might have to look into alternative ways to generate noise.
So far, I can get it to do this sort of thing.
And, that's JSE doing that.
That's code in JSE, changing parameters, making it sound different.
I got a ton of work done on the Tone, today, so I think my next session, I should work on the Volume. Currently the volume is Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release, but I'd like to add more variety to that.
I might have to have another read through the CPC's manual again, see if I can fathom how that's doing things!

Int. Dave's Kitchen - Afternoon
[Dave is holding a tupperware tub full of leftover turkey, looking between Air Fryer and Mrs Microwave]
Dave: Right then, who wants to help me with lunch?
[Lady Computer flashes a warning message from the living room]
Dave: What do you mean 'Food Safety Alert'? It's only been in Mr Standard Fridge for... *counts on fingers* ... ok, it's been a few days, but Tuppily Tupperware is fairly competent.
[Dave approaches Master Air Fryer]
Dave: Come on, new guy. Show us what you can do!
[Master Air Fryer remains silent and unresponsive]
Dave: Don't be shy now. Mr Standard Fridge told me all about your enthusiasm yesterday.
[Mrs Microwave beeps excitedly]
Dave: Oh? You'll do it Mrs Microwave?
[More excited beeping]
Dave: Are you sure? After the Christmas Pudding incident, I'm not sure I trust you as much as you'd like me to.
[Lady Computer starts flashing red warnings]
Dave: Look, Lady Computer, I know you mean well, but Mrs Microwave needs this confidence boost.
[Master Air Fryer's display flickers briefly]
Dave: Yes, we know you don't want to do it, Master Air Fryer.
[Mrs Microwave beeps triumphantly]
Dave: See? Mrs Microwave understands me. She's been with me since the RCHomes days.
[Dave puts the turkey in Mrs Microwave, whilst Lady Computer displays a skull and crossbones]
Dave: That's a bit dramatic, isn't it? It's only turkey.
[Mrs Microwave hums happily while heating]
Dave: This is nice. Just like old times, eh Mrs Microwave? Before Master Air Fryer came along with their fancy baskets...
[Air Fryer's display shows "ERROR"]
Dave: Oh, now you want to talk? Bit late for that, isn't it?
[Lady Computer starts playing "Another One Bites The Dust"]
Dave: You've been watching too many cooking shows again.
[Mrs Microwave dings]
Dave: Perfect! See, Mrs Microwave never lets me down. Unlike some appliances I could mention...
[End credits roll as Lady Computer desperately tries to display food safety guidelines while Dave happily tucks into his turkey, Mrs Microwave glowing with pride, and Master Air Fryer sulking in the corner]
