Uhoh, it's nearly next month!
Let's come up with a theme.
-=-=-
Your task, should you choose to join in, is to give us a word or a phrase or a topic that can make for an interesting set of games.
I'm excited to see what sort of direction you'll push me towards for the month ahead.
So, if you're feeling somewhat interested in poking me in a certain direction, pop a word or phrase into the comments below, or over in the Discord.
Meanwhile...
I posted the first "Patreon First" game yesterday, though I hadn't decided on the name of "Patreon First" until much later in the day, and I think that'll probably be sticking around in the future.
Anyway, the game, BMXventure is now available if you're a Paid Patreon Subscriber. If you're the sort of person who things that oodles of free games, and the silly other stuff that I make all the time, is worth a penny or two, then maybe join in with the Patreon.
The game is nice and fun, and is probably a little trickier than you'd expect (unless you're used to my level of difficulty!!). I'm quite good at controlling the bike, now, but that's after days of practice.
I've also found it to be much easier with analogue controls, but your mileage may vary.
It'll be released for free next Monday (3rd Feb 2025), which will also be the first of next month's new set of games.
That'll be a busy day, huh..!?
Right.
Throw me a word or two, let's get going, and let's work on February!
Woot!
Lyrics : I wrote most of this, but ChatGPT wrote the bridge.
Sound Imported : Unclaimed Agenda > Reveal 🔎
[verse]
It's time to start looking to the future. (Future)
Deciding what to code on my computer. (Computer)
Tappy tap tapping on my keys all day. (tap)
And then clicking on the trackpad all the way. (yeah yeay)
[chorus]
Let's find a theme. (Theme)
Make it a task. (Task)
Something exciting. (Ting)
Hope it'll last. (Last)
Wrangle the code. (Code)
Plot all the sprites. (Ites)
Twiddle the music, (Sick)
And stay up all night. (Ite)
(yeah, coding!)
[break]
[verse 2]
Ideas come in flashes, bright and clear. (Clear!)
But will they stick or disappear? (Oh no!)
Sketching out a plan for the month ahead. (All month!)
Fingers crossed it’s something rad instead. (Let’s go!)
[chorus]
Let's find a theme. (Theme)
Make it a task. (Task)
Something exciting. (Ting)
Hope it'll last. (Last)
Wrangle the code. (Code)
Plot all the sprites. (Ites)
Twiddle the music, (Sick)
And stay up all night. (Ite)
(yeah, coding!)
[break]
[bridge]
Pixels are dancing. (they're dancing, they're dancing)
The screen is aglow. (the glow of a glow)
Frantic debugging, (the bugging debugging)
Where glitches will show. (all the gli-gli gli glitches)
But hey, it’s the journey, (come along for the journey)
The thrill of the grind. (I love bacon rind)
Of all of the coding, (I'm coding the coding)
Who knows what we’ll find? (or whatever we'll leave behind)
[break]
[chorus]
Let's find a theme. (Theme)
Make it a task. (Task)
Something exciting. (Ting)
Hope it'll last. (Last)
Wrangle the code. (Code)
Plot all the sprites. (Ites)
Twiddle the music, (Sick)
And stay up all night. (Ite)
(yeah, coding!)
Int. Dave's Living Room
[Dave is crouched by the Effervescent Engine, while Green watches]
Green: What exactly are you doing, now?
Dave: Just getting it all ready.
Green: For what?
Dave: I'm going to help clean up the sticky goo from the street.
Green: You're going to use the machine that caused it, to clean it up? Resourceful, I suppose.
Dave: I'm calling it "Project Clean-The-Sticky-Goo-From-The-Street".
Green: Could probably do with a shorter name.
Dave: ProCT'S-GoFTS?
Green: Still not great.
[Dave adjusts a valve, causing a fizzing sound]
Dave: The Effervescent Engine needs precise calibration.
Green: Have you planned it all out? Where's the intricate diagram?
Dave: That's all inside. I didn't want to bring it out, in case it got wet.
Green: Oh, I see.
Dave: I've Cola-proofed all the valves, so none of the stickiness should end up going back in.
Green: And where exactly does the stickiness go?
Dave: Down the drains, silly!
Green: Well, let's hope it's a Go To, and not a Go Sub, right!
[Greenie laughs at his own joke, while Dave connects another bottle]
Dave: See, if I can get the fizz ratio just right...
Green: That looks very complicated.
Dave: ..with perfect mathematical precision...
Green: We're doomed.
[Dave turns another valve]
Dave: Just need to adjust the seven-digit pressure settings...
Green: Seven digits? I thought this started as Colanary? Shouldn't it be 3 values at the most?
Dave: Trust me, this'll work. Probably.
[End credits as ominous fizzing sounds emanate from the machine]
