I now have about 17 weeks to get about 20 pieces of music done for Advent.
I really am out of practice, here. I'm struggling to plinkity-plunk my way through anything, lately, and the prospect of having to get everything done by Dec 1st is worryingly becoming more of an effort than it should be.
Just last year, I was flicking these things out, one a week, with barely any effort, but now.
Yikes.
The A.I.'s well and truly taken that job.
On top of that, I think I need to rejig the AGameAWeek YouTube Endy-bit. It's been the same since January!
Usually I take the time to change that up when I'm switching between ALChoon ALBums, but.. again, since I've not been doing any music, I've neglected to switch it up.
Maybe I should make the end-bit a bit more programatically generated, so I can make things a bit more random each week, instead of it being 1 or 2 times a year.
Hmmm..
Anyhooo..
Gimme a Word
It's time to throw me a word or two, or a phrase, or something silly, which I can hopefully use for the next month.
If you've any suggestions that might be easily transferrable into Emoji, and from there, onto a month's worth of games, then please do let me know.
You can post suggestions in the comments or the Discord!
[verse]
Here comes August. Just around the corners.
Coming up to scare us, Sing a happy chorus.
July is leaving, Time to start believing,
Time is so deceiving, Days are interleaving.
August, August, August-August-August.
[break]
[bridge]
Oh no. It's nearly December. (It's nearly December)
We've things to remember. (Before it's December)
As we pass through November. (On our way to December)
Advent's nearly here.
August, August, August-August-August.
[verse]
September's next, October checks.
The days, complex. Whilst time deflects.
Time goes by, Hours fly.
Seasons die, My oh my.
August, August, August-August-August.
[bridge]
The clock is ticking endlessly.
The second hand, so speedily.
It moves to fast it's hard to see.
It seems like just a blur to me.
The days are turning wild and free,
They don't seem like they used to be.
No longer aging gracefully,
They seem to simply flee.
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Kitchen
[Dave is frantically pacing while Brian calmly measures ingredients]
Dave: It's nearly August! We need something spectacular! Something revolutionary!
Brian: We could just do chocolate again.
Dave: No! That's not innovative enough! We need something that captures the essence of late summer!
Brian: Essence of late summer?
Dave: You know, that feeling when the nights start drawing in but it's still warm enough for ice cream.
Brian: We already have the Raspberry Ripple flavour, though. What about.. vanilla with a sunset-colored swirl?
Dave: TOO SIMPLE!
[Dave starts pulling random ingredients from cupboards]
Dave: Blackberry ... and liquorice?
Brian: No.
Dave: Maple syrup with pickled onion?
Brian: Definitely not.
Dave: Bubblegum and bacon bits?
Brian: Bubblegum? Is that mint flavouring, or like that blue bubblegum you get in soft drinks?
Dave: No, we could grate bits of bubblegum into the cake mix!
Brian: Maybe not that, then.
[Mrs Thompson enters]
Mrs Thompson: What's all the shouting about?
Dave: Brian's stomping on my grand bubblegum ScrunchCake idea.
Brian: I'm trying to help him from making something inedible.
Mrs Thompson: [sarcastically] Gosh, that doesn't sound like something Dave would do.
Dave: But what if it works? What if bubblegum and bacon is the next big thing?
Brian: Flavouring. Bubblegum flavouring, I'm ok with. Grated bubblegun is a big no.
Mrs Thompson: With bacon?
Brian: Oh yeah, and no bacon.
[Dave slumps against the counter]
Dave: Fine. What do YOU suggest?
Brian: What about Toffee apple with cinnamon.
Mrs Thompson: Wouldn't that be better for Bonfire Night and Halloween?
Dave: See, she's good at this. Now, about those bacon bits.
Brian & Mrs Thompson: NO!
