So, I'm thinking...
3 pieces of Platdude's rocket.
Pick them up, bring them to the launchpad, and stack them in the right order.
Maybe a button to let go of the currently held rocket part.
Enemies of some sort.
Maybe you could squish them with the rocket parts?
Not sure.
This is as far as the game currently stands, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that it took about 4 hours to get this far, because.. Jinkies, I'd usually be playing a half-finished game by now, but it's taken SUCH a long time to get the level generator looking .. half decent.
I'm still not happy with the "multiple ladders" thing, but maybe choice is a good thing. I guess it depends on how the game actually controls, feels, and the enemy choices I make.
.. Though a couple of dips into JSE's own code did kinda sidetrack me as I was getting this far.
*tsk* Naughty Jay *slaps wrist*
Today's going to be a busy day. A new neighbour's birthday, some old friends coming round for a visit, general VE celebration stuff, and whatever else Saturday throws up.
Oh, and Doctor Who. Can't forget that, too.
[chorus]
There's a rocket. [beat] It's in three pieces.
Well I guess at least it isn't floppy disks, this time.
Gotta grab 'em. [beat] Stitch them up.
Then it'll blast off into space, and fly directly to the sun.
[break]
[bridge]
Why's it doing that? (I don't know)
Won't it burn up? (I'm not sure)
Is it safe at all? (Doesn't look too good)
Please, Rocket, don't fly into the sun.
(I don't think that that would be much fun.)
[break]
[chorus]
There's a rocket. [beat] It's in three pieces.
Well I guess at least it isn't floppy disks, this time.
Gotta grab 'em. [beat] Stitch them up.
Then it'll blast off into space, and fly directly to the sun. (yay)
[horn section]
[bridge]
It doesn't seem very sensible at all.
(If the rocket booster fails, then the rocket might fall.)
I hope that it has protective shields.
(If the rocket gets hot, it'll burn burn burn)
(But we'll do it all again, 'cos we never learn.)
[break]
[chorus]
There's a rocket. [beat] It's in three pieces.
Well I guess at least it isn't floppy disks, this time.
Gotta grab 'em. [beat] Stitch them up.
Then it'll blast off into space, and fly directly to the sun. (yay)
[Dave is playing his Gameboy behind the counter while Green reorganises shelves]
Green: You could help, you know.
Dave: Just reaching a high score.
Green: You've been "just reaching a high score" for two hours.
Dave: It's Tetris.
Green: It's always Tetris.
Dave: I'm up to level six, now.
Green: Is that all?
Dave: It's rather hard.
Green: No, it's Tetris.
[A crash from the back room]
Dave: What was that?
Green: Probably those stacks of games you balanced on the chairs again.
Dave: Boxes deserve to be on comfortable chairs, too.
Green: Not when they're keeling over like that.
[Dave peers into the back room]
Dave: Oh no.
Green: What now?
Dave: There's cassettes and ScrunchCake flour everywhere. Looks like someone's tried making ScrunchTapes.
Green: How did you even... Why were the games anywhere near the food ingredients?
Dave: I was trying to be efficient!
Green: This is exactly why Matt threw you out.
[Dave starts picking up boxes]
Dave: At least none of the games are damaged.
Green: Yeah, but now we've got custard cream flavoured floppy disks.
Dave: Do you think we could market them as "Limited Edition Cream Covered Classics"?
Green: Just... just clean it up, Dave.
[End credits roll as Dave tries to lick Elite clean]
