I spent a bit of time playing DKBananza, and MKWorld, and then far more time than that playing the Just-Three games I posted yesterday, because .. Oh, jeez, that's not normal is it?
I did want to spend some time in No Man's Sky, but the recent update hasn't hit Switch 2 yet. I could've played it on the ROGAlly, but wasn't sure how it might've impacted my multi-system cloud save, so.. um.. didn't.
I'll just wait out the Switch version.
So, what DID I manage to do, yesterday?
Well, um...
I did have an image of an idea of a concept for a game, at one point, so I started coding it, and it looked a bit like this.
So, that's a thing.
...
I know you can't see it, yet..
... Neither can I.
It's not really "Drift" related either.
I'm not sure why I'm making this.
[verse]
A void in the fabric of the reality of the universe,
Cosmic strings fly through twirling vortices,
We journey through a colourful ribbon of nebulae,
Like we're floating on the wildest of majestic seas.
[alt-verse]
Galaxies shimmering lighting up the endless void,
With so many worlds which are still unexplored
We drift through both space, and accompanying time,
Jotting all of our journey on a big metal board.
[chorus]
But we wait for a while as the update's not here. (It's not ready)
We can't pilot our spaceship without all of its gear. (it's not steady)
So we sit in the station awaiting the download, (Please be soon)
That allows us to journey to places untold. (Please be done.)
But until it arrives, we'll just sit in our ship, (in our ship)
And flick through the log, since there's still plenty in it. (inside it)
[break]
[verse]
We see lots of photos of ships from afar,
Which have journeyed before us, their updates complete.
They show off new styles, and they look rather neat,
As they're joining each other, to form a new fleet.
[alt-verse]
I'm bored in the station without much to do,
So I wander around checking out what is new.
A quest to go fly somewhere taking good photos,
Or rescue a ship from a pirate or two.
[break]
(inside it)
[break]
[bridge]
Perhaps when it’s ready, we’ll soar through the skies,
Past quasars and novas that light up our eyes.
We’ll warp into sectors no traveller has seen,
Unlocking new wonders in the space in-between.
Our warp core will thunder, the starlanes will glow,
As faster than light through the wormhole we go.
The wait will be over, our vessel will sing,
Flying out through the sky where we'll battle and win.
[break]
(inside it)
[outro]
Now the wait is all over, the update is here! (Now we’re ready)
We can pilot our spaceship with all of its gear. (Flying steady)
We launch from the station and leap t'ward the light, (Engines burn)
Adventure awaits us from day until night. (It’s our turn)
No sitting around in the dock with our ship, (with our ship)
We’re chasing the stars, and no man's sky with it. (every bit)
Not My Department
Int. Dave's Games and ScrunchCakes - Friday Morning
[Mrs Thompson is manning the counter while Dave and Green are dealing with the Arcade's Highscore Table]
Customer: Hi, my PlayStation isn't working properly.
Mrs Thompson: Oh, I'm sorry dear, I only handle the ScrunchCakes side of things.
Customer: But the sign says 'Games and ScrunchCakes.'
Mrs Thompson: Yes, but David handles all the technical bits.
Customer: When will he be back?
Mrs Thompson: That's him over there. The one that probably isn't behaving sensibly. David!
Dave: Hang on, in the middle of something.
Green: This isn't the middle, yet, Dave. We've barely scratched the surface.
Dave: No, this is the middle. I'm making an executive decision.
Green: On the colour of pen we use for new scores?
Dave: Yes. The red's for new one's, the blue's for old ones. That's that.
Mrs Thompson: [to customer] He's a bit... occupied at the moment.
Customer: Do you know anything about CD lenses?
Mrs Thompson: Not nearly enough, I'm afraid. Have you brought it with you?
Customer: The CD lens?
Mrs Thompson: Well, no, the whole machine. I'm sure David could have a look at it, later.
Customer: Oh. No. [places CD lens on the counter] Just the lens.
Mrs Thompson: David!!!
Dave: [running over] Did someone need tech support? Ooh, a lens!
Green: [shouts from the Arcade corner] Don't put that near any lights. We don't need any more lasers.
