A decade is over, and what have I done?
373 games, created a new blogging script for here, rewritten the Socoder forum, started a few new sites and more! Oh, and a brain tumour! It's been a wild and crazy decade, and over the next few days I'll be looking back at the best (and worst) games from the decade. Views 128, Upvotes 5

DevelopmentsI Think... *think* that I've finally got all my Multiplayer Controller code working in a suitable manner, for OUYA, Forge, GameStick and Flare, all from the same code. Unfortunately, my Archos GameStick is STILL bugging out. For some bizarre reason, it seems to feed the digital controls as Port One and the analogue controls as Port Two, which would explain why I'm always having to redefine the controls on the bloody thing. But, so far so good, and everything seems ... Views 14, Upvotes 3

Neovember is a month in which I'm taking the engine from NeonPlat Raw, and playing about with it to create a bunch of different gameplay styles.
Once we're done, I'll bundle everything back into a package, and pop it up on all the different systems. This week's experimental gameplay mode comes courtesy of Blockman. Not the hungry-pellet-eating version of Blockman, the classic platforming/collection form. You start the game as you normally would, with you, some balls, and some bad guys. Views 18, Upvotes 3

For the past few years, I've been building and rebuilding a silly little experimental shooter thing called "Horizontal Shooter"
The basic gist is that it's a bog standard horizontal shooter, but with a weird control scheme, and a tail to catch things in. I also tend to use Horizontal Shooter as a simple testbed, to see what a language can/can't achieve in the realms of simplistic blurry lovelyness. This time around, since we're also focusing on mobile devices, I've decided to flip things a... Views 60, Upvotes 11

A half-assed experimental thing, this week.
In all honesty, (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/2013/04/this-week-45/">I did enjoy the idea of this game), but the execution wasn't what I wanted. This week it's a case of "Could this be better?!" Views 60, Upvotes 14

OK, folks, here comes the big test.
Is everyone ready? Get your Android device, be sure to enable "UNSAFE!" apps in your settings, point your device's browser to this page, then <a href="https://socoder.net/MonkeyGame-debug.apk">Click here (.apk) to Download</a>. It's a small enough download, only 1.5Mb. Note : This is simply a test engine. This is not a game! Do not expect a game!!! Views 123, Upvotes 13

I'm all out of little experimental ideas, so I figured I'd play it safe, and make a shitty little classic game!
Plus I've been FAR too busy with the Monkey framework, this week, to do anything bigger. No matter, here's a nice little fun shooty thing. You know how this one goes. Views 23, Upvotes 7

Is it really 200, already?! Blimey!
The quickly made retrospective "look at what you've done" post..I started writing games as a kid, went through school making silly games, and ended up with not-much-at-all to show for it. <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/JNKPlat_5_:_Resurrection_20020910A_thumb.png"> <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/JNKFruit2K2_20020807A_thumb.png"> Views 29, Upvotes 8

NMcCoy's made a nice "experimental" game, this week. He suggests that "Squidfold may or may not be about anything." and that's a really nice way to sum up a game!
A cracking little game, and a good addition to his list. But is it the "algorithm-intense" game he'd been working on for the past couple of weeks? I'd guess.. quite possibly, yeah! |Edit| (URL "https://nmccoy.net/2010/03/24/game-09-squidfold/">A link might help!! D'oh!) |Edit| Views 14, Upvotes 3

This week, I've been getting to grips with MidletPascal, and dodging it's annoying mid-compile crashes, in a vague attempt to get some games onto my phone. Sorry folks, this week's AGameAWeek is entirely Java based. Boooo!! Views 499, Upvotes 10
