28th June 2010
It's probably due to the sweltering heat, but my mind's not been very active today, and I've been really slow at getting anything done.
I got quite a lot of Barry the Spelling Bee done, and then decided to do a little work on Cardagain. But, boy, that got messy.
First off, I tried playing a bit of title music.
That just plain didn't happen!! After 2 hours, I scrapped the idea of title music!
Next up, the menu got half complete, and I figured I should add load/save m...

I'm definitely sticking to that 90 minute thing, it's just that, right now, you can't see it!!
Yesterday I fixed up a few things over at Socoder.net. I added a nice upload gallery on the right, and fixed up a few little annoying bugs that needed tweaking.
Then, at 10pm, I decided to make a new game.
And the game went well.

I've not done my "90 minute" challenge again, today.
Well, I did spend about 6 hours figuring out the iPod development stuff, but that wasn't the point of the 90 minute thing, really, was it!?
Anyhoo, no matter.
There's a silly "Vuvuzela Hero" picture going around the net, and I think it started (URL "https://blog.gaborit-d.com/vuvuzela-hero-legend-of-africa/">right here), although I'm not 100% sure.
If you're a regular, you've probably played my stupid Cowbell Hero game, and I fi...

OK, so I finally got my DevLicense, and the first thing I did was to slap the test engine onto my iPod Touch.
If you've tried that, you'll probably found exactly the same thing that I did.
...that, rather than going "Weeee!" it went "... plod... plod..." at about 2 frames a second.
This is not a good thing.

WarioWare is cancelled, this week!!
It's half past midnight, and 90 minutes in, Tuesday's 90-minute-game isn't going to quite fit into the amount of time I'm going to be awake!!!
I'm half asleep, already, and when you start spotting typing errors in your code, you know it's time to sleep.
So, I'll finish this off in the morning.

But then, I've also planned to do WarioWare on Wednesdays..

When I was a kid, I used to love playing quiz games. Blockbusters, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, loads of great 8/16-bit quiz games.
They all had one thing in common..
They let you actually TRY to answer them.
Nowadays, it seems that every damn quiz, even Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, has become a stupid sodding Multiple Choice quiz, where you don't have to think, and type.. Instead resorting to a "Buzz - Pick one" style of gameplay that really ruins the whole game for me..
Bloody th...

This week we're playing with Penises!
A remake of a classic test game, that never really went anywhere.
The game is only about half done, since I pretty much rushed the whole thing yesterday, but it has 10 nice levels, and should hopefully be a good start.

Aaaah, lovely weather!
As Dan Bull sang this week, it's wonderful weather for gaming, and even better if the game is Scrabble!
And that's about all I've done. Alongside animating this weeks main character and drawing my default ground tiles, I've not really done a whole lot.
The game is due on Tuesday. Wish me luck!!

Nearly two whole years in, and you'd have thought that more people would've taken notice of the guy making AGameAWeek. I've moaned before about lack of interest, and I go in and out of these little phases.. It doesn't hurt, it's just a little saddening when there's not much interest.
This week, we've hit another "Wha!?" point.
Having finally got the Mac, and released no less than TEN entire Mac games within a week, I've had the lowest number of visits all year!...

With all the Mac stuff, I've not had a chance to do a new game.
NOOoooooo!!!!!!
I suppose I could rush something in the next 24 hours, but I'm much rather be playing with those extra trimming, and getting things a little nicer.

First off, Gravity Bombs. Not touched it yet, but it definitely needs at least one tweak. .. the Mac's "Superior" (bah) Magic Mouse has a lot going for it, but it also has an inability to right click whilst holding down the left mouse button. Which is prett...

New tube video to match the newer 100 level release, including it's nice new graphical styles, and snippets from the first 50 levels.
Let's see if we can make it.. um... maybe 150 for the next one!?!?
Get them levels in!!

(note, this is a bit waffley, and tends to jump about from point to point!!)
Today I've been working on the editor.
It's been a bit of a challenge, trying to think of every little think you might use, and also the keys for all of it, but I think it's coming along quite well.
Draw with the mouse to draw, left for the selected tile, right for blank.

No release yet, it's nearly ready, but still so far away!
Not to worry, it's Platdude's month, so let's carry on.
By the end of this month there'll be a PC version, and a Linux version, too.
That's hopefully apparent by now.

Today I've made a start on the next JNKPlat.
Everything will be sprite based, but MASSIVE compared to previous outings.
Where previously they'd been 8x8 pixel tiles, this time around they're going to be 64x64 pixels.
That's a 6400% size increase! (Assuming I did the maths right!)

A classic Blockman game, in the style he was meant to be in! Sure, he looks great doing his whole "Pacman maze, but hungry" thing, but this is the style he made his name in, so it seems only fitting that this would be where he finds his Mario Costume.
And not just once. He can find it over and over again!

This week, Munky in a Mario Costume.
Next week, possibly Blockman in a Mario Costume.
Third week, I should probably do Greenie in a Mario Costume, but that's more 'cos he'd look funny, than for any gameplay reasons!
That brings us to April, and with my head spinning with ideas about "The BIG JNKPlat game", I'm not sure if I really want to attempt that.

Ever since I came up with this whole MAR10 Costume idea, I've had three games in mind.
1. Ted Bob was a great game, and needed an update. By making it More Mario, I could easily add extra bits into the mix.
Job done, turned out nicely.
2. "Monsters Upside Your Head" played bizarrely, but nicely! Redoing that in DK style seemed obvious, but didn't quite turn out exactly as expected.

Moving from DS to iPod Touch has been a decent improvement, but.. boy, do I miss having buttons!!
There's also a fair few other little bits and pieces that aren't quite right.
WordJong, for starters, is only about 1/10th of the game it was on the DS, And, what's up with the audio, it's like something keeps messing with the sounds on the thing.
I dunno..

I'd love to get a game done, but finishing the music thing, and sorting out the last bits of the Framework ready for first release? Well, that's going to take some time. And with only 2 days to get it all done.

This has all been checked, rechecked, and triple checked.
It appears to have been nothing more than a coincidence.

1. If anyone with an iSomething has the TurfWars app, I'm in there as ROVER546
2. Adverts. I shoved these on about a week ago, and they're not being clicked, but at least they don't seem to be ticking folk off! Google ads are nice and neat, and behave themselves.
If you do find one that does misbehave, let me know! Seriously, let me know!!! Screenshots tell all..
I don't trust 'em, but as long as they're not annoying folk, that's good enough.

Late last night, as I was half-asleep and reading through Twitter, @Komiga asked me if I was going to be using any version tracking software for my lovely framework.
My twittered response was limited (by lack of sleep, and also 140 chrs!!), so I figured I should explain it a little better.
Last year, around about Alien Deathmatch/Centipong time, I built up my 2D-in-3D framework to work in Blitz3D.
It worked wonders, and let me achieve a ...

MadTinkerer's Net is now ingame.
Simple method of adding it, there's a small blob in the middle of the screen, lining up with the mouse's X position.
The player holds Right mousebutton, and the small blob grows into a little basket/net.
The player collects 3 red pods and gains "Love" magnet mode.
