Platdude. A 16 pixel, 3 color character. Deftly defying the world of 3D models and amazing realism, in favour of good old fashioned gameplay.
Over the years, Platdude has been in plenty of games.. Here's an approximate history of Platdude, along with Downloads where appropriate. (Or skip to the bottom for the latest stuff!) Views 352, Upvotes 22

Workshop
Blog
18th June 2007
I get bored. I get bored a lot. Especially when working on large projects. It's nice to occasionally have some weird random thing to do.
That's why I set up the Wednesday Workshop. A weekly challenge. Make a game based upon a given theme, or task. Everyone who enters gets put through for a vote. But it's not really about the winning. It's about having something to do when you're bored. And .. I get bored a lot! Click <a href="https://socoder.net/index.php?a=13&... Views 151, Upvotes 22

Workshop
19th June 2007
I've started to go through all my stuff, and I decided that, rather than just list everything, I'd try to create some kind of descriptive history of all my games, be they completed fun stuffs, or just failed experiments.? You might even start to see some new stuff appear here that you've never seen before!? ? In the meantime I've built up the JNKPlat section, as well as the More Games page.
I'm not sure if I'll bother doing the Wed.Workshop page.? Or perhaps I'll just list a few of my favourites. ?... Views 114, Upvotes 22

Theory. I can make 3 versions of Platdude in 3D.
All three will be inside a box area. Version 1 will be a maze-like affair, with a multi layered floor, and 4 walls. Version 2 will be up against one of the walls and will play in a classic platform style. Version 3 will take the whole box area and fill it with Super Amazing Platforming Fun! .. These were my thoughts when first trying out Blitz3D, 5 years ago. <a href="https://AGameAWeek.com/shots/exp-p3d.png"><img src="https://A... Views 102, Upvotes 20

When I created JNKPlat 3D (about 3/4 way down (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/?page_id=2">here)) I intended to have an end-credits sequence. So I composed this nice theme for that purpose.
Unfortunately I have an odd knack of never finishing off games, so an end credit sequence never appeared in the game. For the new JNKPlat I grabbed this theme and turned it into a smaller Mod, but some people like it, so here's the original version in it's MP3 format. (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/music/C... DS Progress
Blog
26th August 2007
I decided to start a Dev diary here, for all my DS Developing. I figured people would eventually stumble across it, and start reading away at all the fun coding. Either that, or they'll completely ignore these bits, and just download the Experimental stuff like they usually do.
Either way, this is going to be a part dev-diary, part progress report, and part release schedule for all things DS. I currently have 4 DS Projects on the go. They are Stringy Things, JNKPlat, An Alien Breed type clone,... Views 72, Upvotes 17

The (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/?page_id=28">Greenie) page has become home to some of my Remakes. You can find the best of my (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/?page_id=4">Wednesday Workshop) entries,... Greenie!

Most of my remakes seem to fall into a single category, in that they all tend to feature my character Greenie.
To be honest, I'm not sure why I started doing this. It was never something I planned, it just kind of happened that way! Still, here's a whole page dedicated to that stupid bumbling idiot! Green's 8-bit Tiny CollectionBlitzCoder, 2005. The 8-bit compo asked us to create games in a 8-bit style. No more than 20 sprites, all of which were 2 colors, and 8x8 p...Views 115, Upvotes 17

The whole Gabby Gets a Turkey (logo on last week's post) game is being scrapped due to bizarre scale issues!? A white cat in white snow is a nice idea, except when you realise that a 16x16 pixel head is going to need a huge non-existant body behind it!? The whole thing just felt really odd, and I decided to just scrap it instead.
I know that the Drunken Coders people hate entries that are "X game + Xmassy theme added on later", and I came up with the Gabby game so's it definitely didn't feel like a ... Views 66, Upvotes 7

The DrunkenCoders Christmas Compo finishes tonight.
I bothered to enter the new JNKPlat Xmas Special (You can download that (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/dsdev/jnkplatv0_2.zip">here)) but it's nothing too special.. So, this morning, at around 8am, I decided to get my arse in gear and actually make something nice and snowy for the compo. Around 5 hours later, give or take, and (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/dsdev/snowman.zip">Snowman Attack) is the result. (URL "https://AGameAWeek.... Views 107, Upvotes 33

For starters, let me just point out that Alien Deathmatch has still been slowly updating over the past couple of weeks. It's strange that a single game has taken up so much of my time. I guess that once you find the right type of game, you're more motivated than usual.
Still, more weeks playing with 1 game = less time to get some actual new games coded. As such, there's not really been a whole lot to report over the past week or so. No new games, no new ideas, nothing. I had initia... Views 79, Upvotes 20

Blog
2nd September 2008
This week's Wednesday Workshop <a href="https://socoder.net/index.php?topic=1206">#166</a> asked for us to create a game that uses lots of Balance.
I couldn't come up with anything! So, instead, here's JNKPlat DS 08. <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/dsdev/platds8_menu.png" align="right"> It's a complete restart of the engine, coded wholly from start, but using the old sprites so as to keep the good old fashioned style of the last one! A quick update, albeit not a proper one..
If you download (URL "https://socoder.net/uploads/1/jnkplat08ds.zip">this new version) of JNKPlat, you can use the inbuilt editor to play around with all the nice new features I've been adding in, lately. I've not really gotten around to building a bunch of levels, yet, though! So you'll have to wait for that. I'll be posting a new version next week with some new packs of levels, and maybe even a bunch more new features, too! Head inside ... Views 199, Upvotes 16

Nothing Alien Deathmatch related today (since Saturday's the day I work the most, and get the least actual coding done.. and sit and watch Stargate a lot.. )
However, today, a Spanish fellow named Adael made me a level editor for JNKPlat DS 08! It's online, it's Javascript based, and it's right here. (Update : It's been nearly a decade since I posted this... It's not there, any more!!) <a href="https://socoder.net/uplo... Views 50, Upvotes 7
