What can I make, though? What should I make? Should it be another JSE game so I can make it a Patreon First? Or maybe a Shoebox, but then that can't be Patreon First, because there's no way to lock a Shoebox game down.
.. Maybe I should add that functionality, but then I'm working on functionality all week, probably won't have time to write any games, and ... honestly, adding functionality to lock things away.. That's not me, is it?!
Right, so let's not go there.
Maybe instead of making a game, this week, I should focus on Browsercade. I think my head wants to play with silly menu interface mechanics, and see what crazy ideas it can come up with.
I keep thinking back to the images in this blog post, and how that would be much more interesting to look at than...
well..
It's just so very bland, isn't it!?!
I mean, true, you can't tell what the heck's going on in the AI generated swirly mess, but at least it looks cool!!!
I need to think outside of my normal "flat grid" mindset, and come up with something new and unique.
.. And I think my head's ready for the challenge, and is willing to see what it can come up with.
So, if nobody minds, I might try to do that, this week.
If by Thursday, nothing's happening, I'll give it a skip and make some sort of swiftly cobbled together game, instead!
And if you've any suggestions, stick 'em in the Comments/Discord.
Ta muchly!

I'm working on a new style, something much different for me.
It's gonna have clean lines and swirls, or at least that's what I've planned.
I haven't yet decided whether it should be three dee,
But I guess it's probably easier if things were flat, for me.
[chorus]
I'm used to grids (grids), squares and cells. My screens are usually icons in a row.
Row row row, row your icons. In a grid, they stand in line.
I'm used to making things that look quite flat (flat), and never seem to move like that.
They sit in groups, or ordered like a marching troop
I know that I'd like something quite unique,
To fit the games I make each week,
But can I somehow find a style,
Which I could love for just a while.

I'll be trying out new methods, things not in my comfort zone,
I try to sketch a thought or two onto my mobile phone.
The scribbles swirl and leap about, they seem so bright and free,
I'll try my best to replicate them, but it may be hard for me.

In the end, I'll be quite happy, if the thing I make is snappy,
All the games will find a place upon your screen. (Neat and tidy, nice and clean.)
If it's hard to find something, then maybe that won't be the end,
I'll have to try a brand new style. Refresh the crazy icon pile.
And then all of the games will find their place, Upon this menu that I've made.

[Green approaches the shop, noticing a van parked outside with two men in overalls fiddling with the exterior shutters.]
Green: Dave? What’s all this then? Looks like a full-blown construction project.
[Dave emerges from the shop, beaming.]
Dave: Ah, Greenie! Just in time to witness progress! We're getting the shutters retrofitted.
Green: Retrofitted? Why? They were perfectly functional yesterday.
Dave: Yesterday... Aaah. A day we shall not speak of again. [Shudders dramatically]
Green: You mean when you used the wrong key?
Dave: [Nods grimly] I learned the lesson of always labelling your keys in the correct manner.
Green: So, you’re getting new shutters? That seems a bit extreme.
Dave: Not just [air quotes] new shutters, Greenie! These are state-of-the-art. Cloud-based functionality. Full app integration. I can control them from anywhere! Think of it.. Remote shutter management!
Green: [Raises an eyebrow] You can control the shutters with your phone?
Dave: I could even open the shutters whilst on holiday across the other side of the world!
Green: Why would you need to do that? You never go on holiday!
Dave: Safety, Greenie! Security! Imagine.. You’re halfway through a ScrunchCake bake, and you realize you left the shutters open. A simple tap on your phone, and problem solved!
Green: And what happens if the internet goes down? Or your phone battery dies? Or someone else needs to open or close the shutters.
Dave: [Waves his hand dismissively] Don’t worry about that! There's a manual key, too! [Holds up a small, shiny key] See? Redundant systems. I’m thinking about adding a battery backup, too, so they can still automate even without power.
Green: You're really going all-in on this, aren’t you?
Dave: Absolutely! I'm committed to ensuring that yesterday’s disaster never, ever happens again. [Looks at the workmen] And I'm thinking about adding a voice command system too! "Shutters, close!" Easy peasy.
Green: [Shakes his head] Should it not be "Close Sesame"?
Dave: Sesame? Like Sesame Street? There's no muppets here, Greenie.
[Dave pulls out his phone and starts tapping furiously]
Green: No, none at all.
