I'll be trying to tweak the audio engine again, today, to see if I can do 0.25-second length sounds, and have them play on all the usual browser targets.

There are an awful lot of elements that it would be great to add to the Shoebox framework, but first a few additional framework chunks need to be integrated.

The classic "hop over to remove" solitaire game is now part of the Shoebox. It's a simple enough game. Leap either horizontally or vertically over another counter, to remove it from the board. Your task is to remove all but one counter from the board. I wasn't aiming to make this game, but figured it would be a nice showcase for the Board functions. As the board game engine slowly builds (really bloomin' slowly, this has been one heck of a challenge!!) I can now move "pieces" in and around the board. It currently isn't a lot, and there's little or no rules, but it is at least functional. Now to figure out why the whole thing scrolls so slowly at certain points.. Hmmm...

Today I'll be tackling the actual functionality of the new Board functions.

I'm now fairly happy with the way the generic board is scrolling and zooming on my iPhings, but the desktop version needs a lot more work.

I've started work on a universal board-drawing function that should hopefully allow me to add a number of different board games into Shoebox.

My aim is to, over the next few weeks/months, to slowly expand the number of games included in the pack, to create a lovely little collection of card games, word games, board games and more, all of which are playable within your browser.

I think that, for the most part, the Spider Solitaire is now roughly ready to go, but the Framework is barely finished at all! You can test Shoebox here. Spider Solitaire oughta be good to go.

Right, I'm probably going to ignore the audio issue, and plough ahead regardless. The audio tweaks can be made in the future. After all, this engine is 100% javascript, so everything is really easy to tweak afterwards, unlike most of my normal games that require recompiling and reuploading and then the player to realise there's an update, and redownload it.

A very Platdude styled set of cards are ready to be used, but there's no game for them to go into, yet. Today will be about starting a new framework to cope with them.
