Alan

Al overshot the goal and starting going backwards. Is that correct? I think so.! This is something that I added to Snakes and Ladders, as it's been a rule we've always played at home, and since Board of Spikes is more or less a clone of Snakes and Ladders, I opted to leave that rule in. If that wasn't the case, then there's be no need to use a specific card to end the game. I felt that was more important than just letting the player use any card th...

Made a Yahtzee Clone, today. To keep things as legal as possible, the scoring is marginally different, so be sure to read through the rules to get to grips with the exact sets of dice that you can get points for. You can play Shoebox of Games here. "Dice Rolls" can be found in the new "Misc" section, where I've shifted Leapfrog to, so be aware of that. In my head, Misc = "Can be played in reality" whereas Extra = "Probably a little bit too videogamey to count as a proper ShoeBox game!" As alway...

Over on Socoder, RSKGames posted a lovely "Top 10 AGameAWeek Games of 2018", so here it is lovingly reproduced with links and pics! (And with extreme apologies that it's taken me a week to get around to doing this!!) -=-=-

10. Roland Eats a Stale Biscuit

First puzzle game of 2018. If it was not so insanely difficult it will be higher up in the list.

I've still yet to get online scoreboards working, but for the meantime, this is the current version of the Emscripten based framework running Generic Snake Clone. You can Play it in your Browser here! Things should work fine in most browsers, but as with all things, Edge/Internet Explorer is a no-go!! It should also run on iOS/Android, although the game doesn't use any mouse/touch input, so will be completely unplayable. Sorry about that!! Seems I haven't added decent mouse controls to...

This week, RSKGames is one of very few players who've bothered to take a look at a bland and tasteless Generic Snake clone. You can Download Generic Snake Game here

@RSKGames

All the trailers, screenshots and the hype from the devlogs for the generic snake game might have confused the regular readers of the blog what is all the fuss about. I guess the hype was about the story in the generic snake game.

I've no plans for this week. If anyone has any suggestions, let them be known! You can either comment below, stick it in the Mailbag (on the right of the menu bar), or twitter, or email, or whatever other methods you might like to try. I might try to do a Centipong, but I've never really decided how best to expand it. Hmm...

Generic Snake Clone is almost complete. A couple of tweaks, some screenshots, a bit of double-checking of a few things, then final compiles and I'll probably start doing the uploads.. It should be ready later today, but if not, assume I gave up when I had to try compiling the Mac version!!

It's been a long long time since I did a bog standard Snake clone, and yesterday's code session reminded me of just how utterly simplistic a snake clone can be. Today I'll be making the tail follow the player, as it currently doesn't clear out as it goes, making things much harder for the player. Once that works, I'll be adding more tail-pieces as the player eats more, and then coming up with a soundtrack that matches the presentation of the game.

With any luck, assuming I have the time to cram it all into the space of just a week, and that my programmering fingers don't fall off from all of the difficult coding that lies ahead, by next Monday you'll be able to play a fun and exciting game that I have decided to call "Generic Snake Clone". It will be super and fun and exciting. You will be able to eat the green dots. Amazing gameplay lies ahead. Please be excitementing.

I should probably make this a regular thing, again. It's always fun to get a little back'n'forth going.

Recently, i saw a Choplifter game (Game Gear), on youtube and thought, with a bit of imagination,the rescuees looks like the platdude. So my idea is, if you like to make a Choplifter Clone or alike with platdude. At least something with Helicopter ? ^^;

I said I was going to work on a Mini Clampett sequel this morning, so I cloned the project folder and opened it up, and then went "Hey, I bet I know what's wrong with the 3DS Engine.."
