This week, I started out with a severely disturbing game idea, and ended up with a nice happy colourful arcade puzzle-type thing!

Welcome to the Top 13 AGameAWeek Games of 2013
No other Top-10 lists appear to want to give any of my games any recognition at all, which kinda sucks since I've made a whole bunch of REALLY great games, this year! I don't even get a token "Made a shitload of games, this year" mention!
Sucks!!
So, sod them all, I'll make my own Top-10 list.
And it'll be all my games, and I'll even add a few more just to make it a bit more 2013 relevant.

Thankyou for waiting patiently, as 95% of the internet inexplicably got to play this yesterday, before I posted it to my own website!!

Ah well, lessons learned, must organise things a wee bit better in future. Doing worldwide launches at 10 in the morning, isn't all that easy!

This week, I started a game on a grid.
It started well enough, with a lovely grid-doodling method making nice colourful griddy squares, and a simple circle on the top for the player. Then I got to the point where I had to do character movement, and my head just kinda went "Ugh.. I just can't be arsed!!"

Another day pondering about the should/shouldn't monkey issue.
Another day wondering if I shouldn't just be writing a game..
I should be focusing on the important bits, but instead, my minds contemplating what could be.
We're in March.
Last March, I was using my brand new framework, creating lovely big character sprites, and making fancy colourful Mario styled games.
This week, monochrome Asteroids.
Hmmmm...
So, perhaps the color thing isn't actually that big of a deal, then...

After the fun of a JNKPlat-based April, it's time to get back into the AGameAWeek spirit, and out of the silly ranty 2BeesInDePub mood that I'm currently in.
This week I'm playing around with black holes. Except they're not black.
The player has 4 coloured shooty bobs, and must fire missiles to clog up the not-black-holes.
Each hole hit blasts out more little missiles, and it all becomes a nice swooshy swirly colourful frenzy of dots.

Munky Blocks DS, a complete remake of the original that can even make use of the level files from the PC edition, but also adds in a little mix of "Munky's Block" levels, too.
In the end, it's turned out as a lovely little game, but BOY was that a rushed ending!
Missing a day didn't help things, and the entire editor (top to bottom) had to be coded yesterday!!
Surprised I even man...

I've about 20-odd projects on the go, this week, so you'll have to excuse the lack of blog entries, and even a decent AGameAWeek game.
Most of this week was spent trying to roll a dice! (die, whatever)
I figured that, with 4 frames per roll, I'd need around about 200+ frames of animation.
I tried to work out all the animations, and it drove me crazy!
Then I rested, and eventually worked out a way to do it, without bothering to animate it, which was a lot simpler to do.

If Centipong was a simplistic looking game with added 3D, Blockman would be the exact opposite. With levels so colourful they'd poke your eyes out, Blockman comes hopping along to rescue all the Blocklets.
