Each month I receive the wonderful Arcade Block from (URL "https://NerdBlock.com">NerdBlock.com) When you initially sign up, you give them a T-Shirt size, and every month you get a lovely Arcade related TShirt, along with a box full of odd pieces of tat. Some of the tat is garbage, some of the tat looks nice on a shelf, and occasionally some of the tat is pure awesomeage!

I tried 3 completely different games for "Q", over the course of yesterday, but nothing seemed to be any good. Instead, I left Q for another day, and moved on to C, at which point a nice ball-rolling game appeared and seemed to work fairly nicely. This is the second ball-rolling game in the bundle, but hopefully it's different enough to warrant it. What's becoming a rather worrying trend, however, is that there seem to be a lot of "Move X object through Y random dungeon to find ....

SpikeDislike3's been somewhat of a dead duck when it comes to sales. Just over 140 in the past 3 months is awful, even by my standards. It's odd seeing SD3 doing so badly when some of my other games (like Puzzobomb from 2011!) appear to be suddenly doing much much better. And so, inevitably, the game becomes free for a day. I'll probably leave it on free until later tonight, to give most people a chance at grabbing it. If you've an iPhing, go grab the game for free, then sp...

( width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/z95Cn1S9d78" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>> Yesterday was spent tweaking various difficulty settings. There are 11 (0-10) available difficulties being coded into the level generator, and this video shows what happens at Level 3. Level 0 is easiest, with fewer easier to manage baddies, whilst level 10 is full of spikes and nasty Duck-Turrets. Today I'm going to be tweak...

With the music engine at a workable stage, it's time to start adding some extra danger into the game. Starting with Duck Turrets, and Jack's movements, I'm slowly starting to make the entire game a little harder. I'll also be trying to come up with a bunch of map-based obstacles to get in the way of the player, too. Basically, this is the bit that involves a lot of little tweaks, building up to a nice big fuller adventure, and sees me having to try to separate things, so that eac...

The music engine is now in place, and I've converted a bunch of melodies from AL's recent "Liquid" AL Bum. Thrown into the engine, they're sounding melodically "OK~ish", but those instruments aren't working out, at all. ( width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8opq1w_qZx4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>> Today I'll be experimenting with oodles of different instrument types to see what sort of sounds work best...

I think we can now safely say that SpikeDislike3's been a bit of a wet duck. I expected more from it, and I really did enjoy making it, but .. Meh, whatever.. It's hard to get noticed in this great big crazy world of ours. I'd expect myself to be a little more disappointed by this scenario, but oddly I instead find myself thinking "OK, Now What!?" I guess that doing AGameAWeek for so long has taught me that, whenever something doesn't work, there's still something else around the...

As is the case throughout the majority of the past week, yesterday was spent mostly fiddling with my website. There are still a few minor errors cropping up on the error logs, but nothing worth hassling about. Little quirks like temporary variable usage, an old BASIC habit that refuses to go away.. If I want to disable a huge chunk of code, I tend to throw in something like "If (Aliens=Attack)" which does of course disable that section of code.. .. Yeah, I know, bad habit! Espec...

If there's one thing I hate, it's waiting for stuff!! I'm a very impatient person, and have gotten used to things moving along at a fast AGameAWeek-like pace. I now have TWO games, waiting for Apple Review, and quite frankly it's doing my head in! All this waiting. I can't hack it!!! I'm now pondering what my next project's going to be. Should I continue on this Gap-Year thing, and make something else that's way bigger than normal? Or should I do a couple of quicky AGameAWe...

This week, I started a game with ducks. Having spent most of last week thinking about OUYACentral/Brew's "Lester and Ralph" game, I was looking forward to making some kind of game which made use of both thumbsticks to control two characters at once. I'd already given up on Lester and Ralph, since there wasn't any realistic way I could fit it all into a single week, but I carried on with the twinstick control thing, and brought it down to a more manageable scale. Ducks (and Swans) on a blue pond seemed li...

Welcome to the Top 13 AGameAWeek Games of 2013 No other Top-10 lists appear to want to give any of my games any recognition at all, which kinda sucks since I've made a whole bunch of REALLY great games, this year! I don't even get a token "Made a shitload of games, this year" mention! Sucks!! So, sod them all, I'll make my own Top-10 list. And it'll be all my games, and I'll even add a few more just to make it a bit more 2013 relevant. That'll show 'em!! Mwa-ha-haaa!!!

A somewhat simple remake, this week, as I couldn't even be bothered to add anything new into the mix. To be honest, this is one of those "Desperately trying to keep up a rate of AGameAWeek" games! It's fun, though, and now works lovely on an Android device (assuming your Android device of choice plays nicely with it!)
