When I was playing Golf Solitaire in my android chrome browser found an odd issue where the drag and drop card gets placed in the top left of the screen as seen in the attached screenshot.

I think it's probably about time that I get "Generic unbranded crossword game" into the Shoebox..

Me and Michael Fernie have been emailing back and forth, today, all about the recent Shoebox additions, and player feedback. Lots of new games added to Shoebox. Very nice. Seems like you are getting a bunch of comments too. That is exciting because people are playing. Indeed. Unlike my previous 400 games, these ones actually seem to be popular!! I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing!

So, the Shoebox now has Level capabilities.. That's nice! I'm tempted to add something like Quadoban, or maybe a Kee-Bo-Ard, but that would definitely be crossing the border between physical and arcade.. I might need to come up with some way to mesh the styles together, somehow, and create a brand new sort of game. Hmm..

I think my head wants to have a play with a "Normal" AGameAWeek game.

A simple Snakes'n'Ladders style game, using cards. Use one of the cards from your hand to select how many spaces you'll move. If you land on a Spike, turn it over to see what will happen. You'll either end up moving forwards or backwards, so lets hope that luck is on your side. You can Find 'Board of Snakes' in the Board Games of the Shoebox.

OK, I think I'm done playing with the cards, for today!!! You can try the new cards in any of the Card Game games in the Shoebox.

On the trail for the "Next Boardgame" candidate, I've opted for the one board game I have an absolute hatred of. (Just to get the thing out of the way!)

says.. Suggestion: when the cards are shuffled, add a longer pause to give players a chance to learn the new config. As it stands the cards flip over way too quick to remember what was where.

Lots of comments, lately, as the Shoebox has essentially thrown any kind of regular AGameAWeek schedule well out of the window. I should probably look into fixing that, and getting back to a more regular schedule. Hmm.. Anyway.. RSKGames has submitted a few thoughts on Cardagain, so let's have a post about that! You can find Cardagain in the Shoebox, under the Misc section.

Alan asks.. Did you ever read up on Nandeck? even if you don't use it, it might inspire you on your own ideas as far as bulk generating cards and such. This would be for generating things like "Monopoly Knock-off" Property cards, "Top Trumps Knock-off" score based cards, "HeroQuest Knock-off" Inventory cards, and things like that. Don't worry.. No inspiration is necessary.

So, I started work on this game..

I spent most of yesterday doing some techy reading, and planning ahead for Shoebox's future.

I'll be trying to tweak the audio engine again, today, to see if I can do 0.25-second length sounds, and have them play on all the usual browser targets.

So, time to add a board game.

As the board game engine slowly builds (really bloomin' slowly, this has been one heck of a challenge!!) I can now move "pieces" in and around the board. It currently isn't a lot, and there's little or no rules, but it is at least functional. Now to figure out why the whole thing scrolls so slowly at certain points.. Hmmm...

Today I'll be tackling the actual functionality of the new Board functions.

I'm now fairly happy with the way the generic board is scrolling and zooming on my iPhings, but the desktop version needs a lot more work.

I've started work on a universal board-drawing function that should hopefully allow me to add a number of different board games into Shoebox.

And so, I spent most of the day working on Particles..

Last night, I spent an alarming amount of time thinking about Particles.

Managed to get a little bit of coding done, today. I've added a fairly swift anagram-finder to the word engine of Shoebox. The script can more or less search anagrams for about two sets of letters each second, so should be fairly useable once I start making a "generic unbranded crossword style word game" game. The next part of that particular puzzle is trying to decide on scores for tiles. Do I stick with "Stringy Things" tile scores, which they currently are in the game, or do I switch to using...

It's hard to keep from breaking things when they're already live on the server.
