Yesterday I recreated Hoppy Bobby in the Advent Calendar. It's not an amazing feat, but it is at least something. Other than that, I spent some time rejigging Neon Bike Championships for OUYA, and also sent PlayJam a copy so they can test it to see if it's Multiplayer code is any less crappy than JNKBombers was. I'll keep that copy aside, incase they decide it is indeed worthy of a proper upload, but if you don't ever see it on GameStick/FlarePlay, that'll be why. Today I have...

Suffering, yesterday, as a runny nose took control, and left me really not in the mood for doing much of anything. Hurray.. : I spent what dev-time I could manage, working on Greenie's Mini Quest/Little Adventure. For starters, I gave it it's proper original name! Always seemed silly that the game should have two titles, so I settled on Little Adventure, since that was the name in the logo. (eg, that was easier!!) Next, I tackled the level generator, making levels a little to...

Melodical Developments

Last night I re-rendered and uploaded the entire (URL "https://archive.org/details/PrecariousAlBum">Precarious Al Bum to Archive.org) Annoyingly, I forgot to trim the tails on the tracks, so they all end with about a half-a-second of silence. Ooops.. I'll have to poke around in Archive.org's settings and see if I can update the files, but I imagine they're probably going to have to stay like that. Aw well.. Meanwhile, I also created a new track for the Liquid A...

If there's one thing I hate, it's waiting for stuff!! I'm a very impatient person, and have gotten used to things moving along at a fast AGameAWeek-like pace. I now have TWO games, waiting for Apple Review, and quite frankly it's doing my head in! All this waiting. I can't hack it!!! I'm now pondering what my next project's going to be. Should I continue on this Gap-Year thing, and make something else that's way bigger than normal? Or should I do a couple of quicky AGameAWe...

It only appears once, right at the start, anyway.. So it's not going to keep cropping up all the time. Lazy and cheap, but it gets the point across. A year of Platdude. .. Almost.. I made 10 Platdude games, this year. 9 individual games up until September, and then an extra one bundled right at the end of Alpha Collexion. .. And I never did get around to that "Proper JNKPlat" did I.. hmm.. Sorry, AW! This morning, I'm finding myself wondering what should happen next year. Should I make it the year of Greenie? The year of Munky? The year of Blockman? I'm unsure, and as per usual, I've not planned a bloomin' thing. Instead, I'll probably ju...

You may have noticed a slight lack of gaming over the past couple of months. Usually I cut down on AGameAWeek during the closing months of a year, and instead focus on a larger project, but over the course of this year I've already tackled a number of larger projects. Blockman Worlds, JNK Bombers, Future Classics.. They've all been substantially larger than my standard weekly output. As such, I'm actually struggling to come up with a decent "end of year project" that would be worth tackling. Instead, I...

As I sit here trying to code this week's AGameAWeek, I'm struggling. Not because I don't know what the game's supposed to be. I actually have most of the game planned out in my head, and I think it might be fun, but something else is butting in. For some strange reason, I can't stop thinking about NeonPlat Adventures. I'd like to make "Greenie's Communication Tower", but each time I open the code, I instead find myself thinking about the complexities of Platform World Generation, and how much fun I fo...

An unexpected arrival, as my major 2-week-long project somehow manages to cram itself into the space of just a week. Not entirely sure how that happened, if I'm honest.. <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/Blockman_Worlds_20140415A_thumb.png"> <img src="https://AGameAWeek.com/complete/Blockman_Worlds_20140415B_thumb.png">

Or, as the titlescreen would have you call it, "Greenie's Little Adventure" Feel free to use either of the two titles! Welcome back! AGameAWeek starts anew, this week, with a nice little remake of a game I made a good 7 or 8 years ago. My original "The Quest" game took a board-game-style approach, but never really got very far due to the limits and oddities of trying to play a board game on a computer. It felt strange to have to roll dice all the time, and the battles were never that great. I'm not ...

As week one rapidly approaches, and I'm posting less and less, it's probably apparent that I'm knee deep in the middle of a mega-coding frenzy. Or, if that's not apparent, let it be known.. I'm knee deep in the middle of a mega-coding frenzy!! Over the past week or so, I've overhauled quite a few features of my framework, including getting things prepared for OUYA, with controller additions and things like that. I've learned quite a few little bits and pieces about controllers over the last few months,...

Although I am sort of planning things ahead of time, I'm not really doing a good job with the things I'm planning. In the majority of cases, the better AGameAWeek games seem to be those spur of the moment games that I cobble together fairly quickly. Anything over-planned seems to die a death, halfway through! At the start of May, I planned to do two fairly large projects. Both of those projects have remained untouched for at least a couple of weeks. Whoops!

Get used to seeing this, as you're going to see a lot of it. The other day I asked for opinions on what April might bring. Three people chipped up. One was over at Curly's World of Freeware, where Tormuse suggested I should go with the Word Games. Second, @moshboy suggested I should go with an unplanned stream of oddities. Oooh, a Tie!! Third was the deciding vote. And worryingly it didn't even come from the internet. Instead, My Mum suggested I should carry on doing Stringy Things....

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going. Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up. If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up. Anyhoo, this is a nice big lengthy re...

First up, this week's game will be Blockman in a Mario Costume. Greenie looked great in his costume, but he's a lost cause, and I'm moving on. Blockman will return to his original Flicky style gameplay, with the Mario Costume acting as a power up to give him an amazing new ability! Combo scores aplenty! After that, we're done with Mar10, so I can start playing with fresh, original, and fantastically new ideas.. Speaking of which, Tetripong is apparently needed on the DS, so that'll probably be my fi...

Awww This week I've been ill, and between website tweaks, and lying in bed half-dead, I've not really had time to get anything done. This morning, I managed to wake up, and was bright and alert. I figured it was probably a good chance to get something done, so I grabbed the half-assed sprites, popped them into an engine, and got them running in a right facing direction. Adding random pipes, and the ability to jump over them, I'd made a 1980's style Waggler Hur...
