The other day I suggested that a new set of AGameADay might be in order, since I'm totally stuffed for ideas, lately.
Out of ideas, make the requirement more.... Sure, that makes sense, right?!
Anyhoo, today I spent . um.. all day.. doing yet another one of those Framework things that I apparently love to do.
This time I used PlayMyCode.com, and the resulting menu/score/game thing has actually worked out quite nicely.
First game, Chase The Block, a simple chasey game.

This week, I started a game on a grid.
It started well enough, with a lovely grid-doodling method making nice colourful griddy squares, and a simple circle on the top for the player. Then I got to the point where I had to do character movement, and my head just kinda went "Ugh.. I just can't be arsed!!"

I'm sitting, trying to type, but I'm so tired it's all coming out as bizarre random codey bits, and nothing's really working out at all.
Things achieved since last sunday
1. Puzzobomb PlayMyCode

3. Drum machine mixeybob thing, started, sounding ok, still not quite there yet..
4. Sheep Goes Left, 100 level pack + new ingame objects + organised menu to do both the packs. (upped to Apple, waiting for release)

There are new features.

Quicker ways to do things.
There's a lovely set of notifications!
The world of iOS5 is remarkably fantastic!

I enjoyed my Month Off!
I've written a lovely quickstart framework, I've built a game and a half, I've posted more Tube vids and Tweets in a month than any month previously, I've tried to keep up the blog, AND I even had time to relax!!
A few games of GTA and Burnout meant my X360 was switched on for the first time in over a year!
I've been playing YouDon'tKnowJack on the iPod (Highly recommended, even if it is Americanised questions), and listening to months worth of unlisten...

Well, that was a lovely little blip, there, wasn't it!
I've written half-a-framework three times in a month!
*sigh*
It finally showed this week, when a crazy chaotic week of newness became a horribly pathetic week of giving up.
No matter.
I'll use this time to make things better.
I've finally re-re-re-re-restarted my Cocos2D framework (another framework) and will be coming up with some kind of new-ness for the BlitzMax framework.
.. yup, might as well stick with Blitz.

Another day pondering about the should/shouldn't monkey issue.
Another day wondering if I shouldn't just be writing a game..
I should be focusing on the important bits, but instead, my minds contemplating what could be.
We're in March.
Last March, I was using my brand new framework, creating lovely big character sprites, and making fancy colourful Mario styled games.
This week, monochrome Asteroids.
Hmmmm...
So, perhaps the color thing isn't actually that big of a deal, then...

Oh, Mark.. What have you done!
I was happily coding away at AGameAWeek, and now I'm stuck in this odd Will I/Won't I scenario, unsure as to what to do next..
I spent a few hours playing with Monkey again, Yesterday, and am still unsure which is the better path.
Monkey has no recolouring for sprites. That's a pretty big deal, and is a bit of a biggy when your onscreen text is sprites. No sprite colors means one text color.
Even my Tandy TRS 80 could do more than one text color!!
But right ...

As a kind of replacement for those, then, I'll be thinking ahead, and wondering about the "larger" projects.
