I enjoyed my day off, yesterday. Got a few none-gamedev things worked out, and even started playing with paper again. Wondering whether to bring back my old Paper Arcade crafts, expand the DVD Case images to fit properly and include a back, and maybe even some oldskool cardboard boxes and cassette inlays. .. Yep, even when not coding, my mind is fizzling away, trying to keep itself busy and not worry about all the doom and gloom outside.

Week three on the island. We start the week with a mystery How on earth do you create all this from only 10 Cherry Blossom petals? It makes no sense at all!

Week Two, on the Island. The week started with a bang, as all the villagers gathered for the opening of the island's campsite. Even Mr Angry Brows decided to be slightly less mean, on this occasion.

The Foldapuz game took a while to get started, mostly because I didn't have a bloomin' clue what to do. I'm definitely starting to run out of ideas for that thing. Might be time to think about retiring it, or at the very least, not forcing myself to come up with something every single week.

You might've noticed an alarming number of "Top 10" posts, yesterday! Ideally I should've started doing that about a week or two ago, to get all 10 posted by New Year, but.. Meh, whatever! If you've not been voting in the polls, please do, as I'll be gathering up the winners of all 10 polls to make a topper-top-10 list at the end of all this. Today I'll tackle 2016 and 2017, and maybe 2018.. I'm dreading trying to organise a top 10 for 2019, though! 140 games in a year? Yi...

A decade is over, and what have I done? 373 games, created a new blogging script for here, rewritten the Socoder forum, started a few new sites and more! Oh, and a brain tumour! It's been a wild and crazy decade, and over the next few days I'll be looking back at the best (and worst) games from the decade. 2010 - BlitzMax 2011 - Touch Control 2012 - The Bad Year 2013 - Monkey-X 2014 - OUYA!! 2015 - The Gap Year 2016 - Forget-V 2017 - Cuddle Me 2018 - Ringing the Changes 2019 - Overl...

This morning's a newsletter day, so that all needs doing first, but then I'll be heading into the game and trying to figure out exactly what style it's going to take. I'm fairly sure I can get some kind of gameplay working for this week's game, but it'll be a case of finding the right balance between what the level generator can come up with, and the way the player controls.

I haven't got much planned for this week's game, yet. I was first waiting to see if a Buffer Drawn Tilemap might be workable, but it seems that it's going to be a missing feature on 3DS.

All night, the cat was running around, up and down stairs, and randomly yelling. I figured she probably wanted out, so at 1am I bumbled out of bed and opened the back door for her. At 1:30, I was stood at the door, freezing, waiting for her to come back in. Bloody cat.

Each week, players send in their thoughts for that week's game. Or, at least, RSKGames does! If you want to submit your own thoughts, stick 'em in the comments, or email them in. This week's game is Sheep Goes Right

RSKGames

Overview: A totally different AGAW game in terms of art style and music but with the familiar mix of twist to the gameplay mechanics and attention to detail. A pleasant surprise is that the game is not endless, it has finite levels and ends with ''...

There are now only 4 games left in my OUYA Redux game list. Platdude in Battling Ostriches should be easy enough to do. The Final Warrior will also be easy, but I shan't be uploading it to PlayJam. PlayJam previously had issues with the end credits of Invisible Munky mentioning the OUYAForum, so I expect that The Final Warrior will be an absolute barrel of chaos, since the giant Twitter-Avatar list contains names and avatars of multitudes of people, including a fair number of O...

I spent most of yesterday trying to get a lot of broken things to work, but nothing seemed to happen. Still no progress on the NextGen-PlayJam device, which is still crashing like a crazy driver. Still no progress on getting all of my audio to play on the LastGen-PlayJam device, which seems to ignore every 10th-or-so PlaySound command. Still no progress on getting the controls working on my Archos Gamepad, which is driving me up the wall. Android wasn't designed to be this fla...

All of this New-OUYA recompiling and fixing has certainly taken it's toll on NeonPlat. The game should've easily been finished by now, but instead I'm still working on enemy placements and trying to come up with Hats, which is still fairly early days in the world of NeonPlat.. *sigh* Yesterday I finished off Karl's Tiny Adventure and got it uploaded to both GameStick and OUYA. The OUYA one will be the better edition, since it includes the music. Worryingly, NeonPlat's Cosmic Ad...

I've spent more than enough time on Karl's Tiny Adventure. It's time to stop trying to fix the issue and just get the damn game uploaded. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to do two distinct editions. One for OUYA/Etc and one specifically for GameStick. The GameStick edition will have the music disabled. Why? Because apparently the GameStick doesn't like playing audio. I mean, it does, it just doesn't always play what you ask it, when you ask it to. For 99.9% of cases, it'l...
