Each month I receive the wonderful Arcade Block from (URL "https://NerdBlock.com">NerdBlock.com)
When you initially sign up, you give them a T-Shirt size, and every month you get a lovely Arcade related TShirt, along with a box full of odd pieces of tat.
Some of the tat is garbage, some of the tat looks nice on a shelf, and occasionally some of the tat is pure awesomeage!

DevelopmentsI sat down to do a lot of coding, yesterday, but for some reason wasn't really in the mood. Instead, I opened the big box of Lego that I got for Xmas. I hadn't previously opened the Doctor Who Tardis Lego set, because I knew it'd require a LOT of table space to put it all together, and since it was Xmas/New Year, the dining table was in use!! With New Year done and dusted, I opened the box, placed the pieces into little dishes, and spend roughly 5 hours building the thing up. ...Views 19, Upvotes 7

DevelopmentsI hate waiting.. And now I'm waiting for 2 sets of people to do their Review thing.. TeamOUYA normally get around to things on a Monday, but with all the chaos going on over there, I'm expecting mid-week at the earliest. Meanwhile, PlayJam could take ages. Their reviews seem to be nice and fast, but the delay between Review and Release is somewhat erratic. My first PlayJam game took about a month from when it was "Passed" to when it became available on the system. But recent "...Views 16, Upvotes 3

Super Mario Maker! After waiting until 3:30 in the afternoon, the game finally showed up. Bah, humbug! If you'd like to play some of my oddities, I am (of course) Jayenkai in the Miiverse doohickey. I *think* it's that easy, anyway. Not sure!Developments...Waiting for the game to turn up gave me plenty of time to add a level ending to my levels, which takes the form of a lovely swirly line which teleports you off to the next level. DevelopmentsA simple and easy titlescreen has now been added to the levels. At the moment it simply says World XXXX Y Z, but in future I'll have it showing stats and icons and things, too. I'll try, of course, not to make it too cluttered, but it does at least need an icon for the level style, alongside a your current number of remaining lives. DevelopmentsYesterday I posted a test version of NeonPlat Adventure 2 over on the OUYA Forum, where people could download and test the game, to see how it is in it's current state. Of the two commenters so far, I don't think either of them actually have tried it out, yet, which is a shame because in the world of AGameAWeek, I'm going to be ploughing ahead, and any issues they come up with will probably be out of date by the time they tell me about them! (This is why AGameAWeek is usually done...Views 9, Upvotes 3

DevelopmentsMore complicated work playing with the level generator, yesterday. I still have LOADS to do, and progress has been somewhat slow, but I'm taking my time and trying to account for lots of different things at the same time. There are some elements that need to be missed out, this time around. Ladders and "drop down" things simply won't work on a touchscreen, unless I start making the onscreen dpad do up and down, which honestly, I'd rather not do. One single axis is plenty for mo...Views 11, Upvotes 3

As a kid, I was never a big Nintendo fan. I had a Gameboy and I LOVED Tetris, but much as is the case nowadays, I tend to code and create more than just play.
I continue to buy Nintendo consoles and handhelds, even today, because theirs are the games that I get the most fun and enjoyment out of.
Mr Iwata was first and foremost a developer, and I can only hope that Nintendo finds another suitably developer-minded helmsman to t...

DevelopmentsAaah, iTunesConnect. When Invisible Munky 2 launched, the other day, I noticed something odd in my iTunesConnect pages. Where there's usually a "Request Promo Codes" link, there was none. Basically, I can't give away Promo Codes for my iOS games, because I can't bloomin' well get any codes in the first place. I was baffled, and tried many things to get them back, including emailing and chatting with Apple themselves about the situation. After a good number of hours, they don't ...Views 22, Upvotes 5

DevelopmentsYesterday, I completely rejigged the "Bounce" of SpikeDislike. Originally, the bounce was a simple Sine-wave, and has in fact been this in EVERY version of SpikeDislike, but this time I'm hoping to add a couple of new elements which have required a minor tweak in the usual ball bouncing mechanic. This isn't something to be taken lightly, as I had to be absolutely sure that the end result still "felt" like Classic SpikeDislike. At the moment it's a teensy bit floaty compared with ...Views 24, Upvotes 3
