The engine's working nicely, an art style has been defined, and things are getting put together.
I've started building some proper levels, now, but already the game's feeling like it's still missing something.

A year of Platdude.
.. Almost..
I made 10 Platdude games, this year. 9 individual games up until September, and then an extra one bundled right at the end of Alpha Collexion.

Today I've started recreating Munky Blocks.
At the minute, I'm trying to get the basic controls up and running with a touchscreen, which.. as you can possibly imagine.. are a teensy bit tricky.
Once I've got the game basics up and running, I'll start messing about and seeing what "NEW!" features I can add into the mix.
.. I also need to build a boatload of levels, too, so .. this will probably be a difficult week, ahead!!

So, here we go again.
We're up to Year 5, and hopefully we'll get a full year out of it, this year (nnngh).
With Monkey, we get a chance to go back over our previous games, and remake them for a new audience, with iOS, Android and Browser based versions. I expect this will prove to be an exciting year.
Given that we can play at showing off, what games do you think would work best, and adapt well to the new touchy/mouse based gameplay options?
Or, what games could prove to be an obscure tricky challen...

When I coded my BlitzMax edition of NeonPlat Adventures (Still online, still free, still available, still awesome, still getting the odd blog post on sites!) I threw things in, wherever they seemed appropriate.
I coded randomly, as I usually do.
I didn't worry about memory issues.
I didn't even give a munky about how many sprites were hurtling all over the screen. (My 2-year-old framework takes care of that.. Hit F12 for your system's stats.)

Had another Migraine day, today, and thus managed to accomplish bog all.
'tis a bit of a downpoint, considering how productive I've been over the past couple of weeks, but I pretty much ended up reading forums, messing about on Twitter, and.. .. Relaxing a bit.
Because, apparently that's important, even when you're kicking ass making a really great platformer. Go figure!

Last Sunday, I came up with a fun idea for a game/experiment.
I figured it was WAY too big to fit into the next day and a half, so set it aside for this week, and instead made the (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/?p=1373">silly block diggy thing) that I did last week.
On Thursday, I properly started the bigger project, hoping that 5 days of work would be enough.
On day 1 I did the nice intro, made the outside-area work, and patted myself on the back for having done a really large job in a single day.

I'm going to give this an extra week.
Next week's game (if I can do it in time) will be done using the GLBasic demo.
I'll spend a week, get the framework half-done, throw in a cheap-ass game, and post the result.
Then I'll decide.

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going.
Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up.
If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better
The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up.
