DevelopmentsA simple and easy titlescreen has now been added to the levels. At the moment it simply says World XXXX Y Z, but in future I'll have it showing stats and icons and things, too. I'll try, of course, not to make it too cluttered, but it does at least need an icon for the level style, alongside a your current number of remaining lives. DevelopmentsWith the music engine at a workable stage, it's time to start adding some extra danger into the game. Starting with Duck Turrets, and Jack's movements, I'm slowly starting to make the entire game a little harder. I'll also be trying to come up with a bunch of map-based obstacles to get in the way of the player, too. Basically, this is the bit that involves a lot of little tweaks, building up to a nice big fuller adventure, and sees me having to try to separate things, so that eac...Views 18, Upvotes 5

DevelopmentsLast night, I started watching a series on Vimeo titled (URL "https://vimeo.com/channels/itvintheface">"ITV In the Face".) The show is essentially a look back at all the various UK ITV franchises, along with the history of what happened to all the different companies along the way. Thrilling stuff, I'm sure you'll agree. But it kept me awake until 5am, this morning, and is one of those "Can't stop watching" sort of TV-History documentary things that I have a nasty habit of g...Views 43, Upvotes 6

DevelopmentsMore complicated work playing with the level generator, yesterday. I still have LOADS to do, and progress has been somewhat slow, but I'm taking my time and trying to account for lots of different things at the same time. There are some elements that need to be missed out, this time around. Ladders and "drop down" things simply won't work on a touchscreen, unless I start making the onscreen dpad do up and down, which honestly, I'd rather not do. One single axis is plenty for mo...Views 18, Upvotes 6

DevelopmentsWith the player physics in place, and a few tweaks to the screen scrolling, it's time to start work on the level builder. Now I need to focus on both designing art to fit the style of gameplay, a half-a-dozen themes, as well as making the level builder work in a suitable way to create some nice enough levels, with plenty of variety, and also ensuring that all the levels are completable. ... That last part will probably be trickiest! I think I'll have to design an AI Player to r...Views 22, Upvotes 5

DevelopmentsDidn't get an awful lot of stuff done, yesterday. I attempted to code, but leftover migraine seemed to be hammering away. I find that my migraines come in waves.. They usually last over the course of about 3 days, with days 1 and 3 being the worst, and day 2 being the eye of the storm. A calm, easy to cope with, day. Yesterday was Day 3, and as such I ended up sitting on the couch, reading Twitter and not getting an awful lot done. ( src="https://vine.co/v/edT1ujmI7uW/embed/...Views 75, Upvotes 7

Three years ago, I posted <a href="https://AGameAWeek.com/2012/08/home-again-home-again-jiggity-jig/">this post</a>, all about my time in and out of hospital having a rather large splodge of evil-stuff removed from the middle of my head.. It's become something of an annual ritual to post a similar blog each year.
BalanceMost of my current health problems stem from a lack of balance. The head is a fluid-filled place, and it all tends to slosh about in there, but it's all...Views 118, Upvotes 30

DevelopmentsUhoh! Forgot about colours!!! That's going to make NeonPlat Adventures particularly tricky, should I want to include an HTML5 edition. .. and, of course, I DO want to include an HTML5 edition, so I guess I'm going to have to retackle the whole "multicoloured scenery" issue. And so I spent most of yesterday drawing some basic template scenery and getting it all ready. I added a whole new section to my re-renderer engine, and now it's spitting out high quality assets in 9 differ...Views 36, Upvotes 14

DevelopmentsI think we can now safely say that SpikeDislike3's been a bit of a wet duck. I expected more from it, and I really did enjoy making it, but .. Meh, whatever.. It's hard to get noticed in this great big crazy world of ours. I'd expect myself to be a little more disappointed by this scenario, but oddly I instead find myself thinking "OK, Now What!?" I guess that doing AGameAWeek for so long has taught me that, whenever something doesn't work, there's still something else around the...Views 22, Upvotes 7

UpgradesAnnoyingly, not the upgrade I was looking for. Yesterday, for some bizarre and unexplainable reason, PaintShop Pro 7 suddenly broke. I'm not sure why it did, and I spent a good hour or so trying to figure it out, including a complete delete and reinstall, only to find the same issue. It's weird, and I'd never seen it ask for a "User Directory" before, but no matter what directory I told it to try, it failed, failed and failed again. DevelopmentsMy Socoder site has been mostly inaccessible for about 18 or so hours, now. I'm trying to sort it out, but there seems to be something wrong with the file system on the server. It's acting very strangely. I've asked GoDaddy to do a server-restore, but if things are still.. .. weird.. I'll have to ask for a complete overhaul of my server. Very strange behaviour. Well, @Jayenkai , I've always supported you in the past. And I warned you focusing on piracy would turn you into something untenable.
Point one : I'm NOT focussed on the "Piracy"
I'm focussed on the twat that took my game, and uploaded it to Amazon, then tried to make a profit from it.
That, to me, is a million times worse than anyone who simply finds the game online and downloads it.
That's not just taking something, that's taking something then trying to profit from someone else's hard work...

DevelopmentsYesterday, I completely rejigged the "Bounce" of SpikeDislike. Originally, the bounce was a simple Sine-wave, and has in fact been this in EVERY version of SpikeDislike, but this time I'm hoping to add a couple of new elements which have required a minor tweak in the usual ball bouncing mechanic. This isn't something to be taken lightly, as I had to be absolutely sure that the end result still "felt" like Classic SpikeDislike. I've been working on Invisible Munky 2 for nearly THREE WEEKS, now! Blimey, that went fast!
I'm currently working on building levels, and trying to keep the momentum of the game flowing in a decent manner. I'm also trying to add a decent mix of music, but it's all kinda samey. I might have to head in a completely different melodical direction, or something. *shrugs* Not sure!

A few months ago, I bought myself a new camera. Well, actually it's a Phone, but since I never phone anyone, and all my communication is via the internet, and I never actually go anywhere, the "phone" part of the phone is pretty much going unused.
I bought the Lumia 1020 as a camera, because it has a wonderfully large 41 megapixel sensor, and a staggeringly good Optical Stabilisation lens. Since my whole "brain tumour!" thing, I've had incredibly shaky hands, and being able to take crisp clear photos with...
