Today will mostly be spent playing Shoebox games, because Mum seems to really enjoy the Shoebox games!!

Shoebox Highlights Since RSKGames asked for such a thing, there's now a single quick-ish loading page, which contains tiny snippets of update news, along with links to the actual blog post that accompanies them. I'll probably do the Foldapuz and JNKsg equivilants tomorrow, as it took absolutely ages to find the posts, and get all those little highlight messages written!

I was very lucky that in my first game I did not get into any snake tiles and got the help of one ladder tile to reach near the end zone much before the AI. Yup, this is a game 100% down to luck. I'd like to perhaps remove the sheer-luck, by making the moves maybe Card based, or something? Not quite sure how well that would work, and it honestly wouldn't be "Snakes and Ladders" anymore. So.. Perhaps another type of board game in the future?

The gfx in the credits screen has a very good looking swirling ghost effect. And what a lovely effect it is!

So, I started work on this game..

I spent most of last night trying various microphone tweaks in order to get just the right sound.

The credits screen of Shoebox is now much more of a credits screen again.

OK, time to replace that Credits screen. I don't like it..

Yesterday I had submitted 2 comments on the blog with link to 2 pictures I had uploaded in socoder. Hmm.. Well, I suppose that's probably my over-reactive Spam control in action, which perma-deletes anything that looks even slightly dodgy. (eg, URLs and things like that) I imagine that all the _'s and brackets in the text also probably added to the trigger-count, which would've ended up blocking your comment from even getting to the comment bin. I spent most of yesterday doing some techy reading, and planning ahead for Shoebox's future.

Not really sure where yesterday's Strings game came from! I wasn't expecting to code anything at all, but I think my Sunday Day-Off left me clambering to code something.

Played a few times and managed to beat the AI half the times. Only weird thing I noticed is that when player wins sometimes both the orange and some blue pieces nearby seem to animate. Indeed. The flashing is done by the AI. Where the AI sees a possible win, it triggers the flashing, and occasionally it bleeds through into weird areas.

The "Four in-a Row" AL has been upgraded a little, this morning. It's not "Evil", and can still be beaten every other game, but it's making less mistakes than it was, earlier. Not a complete rewrite of the AI, but a fairly significant redoing of the way that the AI finds a final placement.

I've never had to wear a wrist strap, before, but the sheer agony in my wrist, yesterday, was on a whole other level.

Honestly, I might rest a bit, today. It is Sunday, after all.

Mere hours after his first appearance, and Michael Fernie's relative (Rebecca) has submitted the first FanArt of the Shoebox's AI buddy, AL. Absolutely awesome! Thank you, Rebecca!

This morning, I posted a picture with Greenie at the side of the Four in-a Row board, and wondered if I should attempt to integrate Greenie into the game, somehow.

The latest sounds have been added to the Shoebox framework, along with a bunch of tweaks to various games to account for the new sounds. In addition, I've now added a trashcan to the game selection screen, which will erase the scores for the selected game mode. Tap it on the bottom right, then tap again on the bottom left, to erase your scores. This is most useful when playing the two-player form of Four in-a Row, as you can reset whenever you need to.

I'll be trying to tweak the audio engine again, today, to see if I can do 0.25-second length sounds, and have them play on all the usual browser targets.

So, time to add a board game.

I spent about 3 or 4 hours playing around with KORG Gadget, last night, and managed to create another couple of ALChoons for future Friday postage.
