Hunting for Files

As I poke and prod around my new NAS drive, there are still gaps remaining.
My Midi and Mod archive is entirely missing. I never did manage to get them from my old hard drives, and now I'm starting to wonder how on earth I'm going to manage to do it.
For the most part, the Mod Archive can be re-grabbed from Aminet, where I originally got most of it. But there were various other sites that have been and gone in that time, which had wonderful tunes.
My Min...

I awoke this morning to find that FileZilla had crashed.
I'm using FileZilla to do a complete file transfer from my old NAS drive to the new one.
I'm not sure how far it got, or why it crashed, but crash it did, so I had to restart the whole bloomin' thing. Grrr. It's been set to "Skip if identical" to that at least should speed it up a bit.

Well, it was somewhat inevitable that I'd keep the "Not Mario, Honest!" theme in the game.

After a number of tweaks and fixups, the theme doesn't look "too" Mario-esque. It's still got...

Another big gap, as I try to figure out what's happening next. I figured you guys oughta be kept up to date with current goings on, in the world of AGameAWeek, so here's a rough bit of blogging so that you can vaguely assume you know what's going on!
Current projects are..
1. Kee Bo Ard Go Deep
Another sequel in the Kee Bo Ard collection. I've so far built a fairly capable engine, but am struggling to decide exactly what I'd like to do with it. I've got the game up to a "You can complet...

Today is, apparently, Amiga Day.
Not entirely sure what it is we're supposed to do on Amiga Day, but I figured it'd be nice to compile one of my old AMOS games, and stick it onto my Archive for all to laugh at!
I've actually dated this one in the code, as being from 1997!! No idea when in 1997, so I'll say it's probably December... but yeay! Oldest thing on my Archive o/

Last month, I set aside the whole month to create a nice and lengthy month-long project. Blockman Worlds surprisingly took just a week to create, and then I was right back to the regular AGameAWeek schedule!!
This month, I opted to delve into something even bulkier, and the resulting game is really quite nice. Oddly, it took alarmingly longer than expected, so isn't quite as chunky as I'd like it to have been.
As it is, though, it's a wonderful little highly playable local-multiplayer edition ...

I've just added my first Amiga game to my Jayenkai Archive.
I've had access to the disk's files for a long time, but never got around to getting the compiler stuff up and running.
Today, I finally buggered about with WinUAE and my collection of Amos disks, and got Amos Pro Compiler up and running.

There are hundreds of great sites that I should probably link to, and much like linking to my hundreds of games, I've always found it a bit of a mess once I start trying to cram it all into a small sidebar on the right of the site.
As such, I've finally opted to create one great big link-page, full of everything I could think of within the short hour or so that it took to add it!
If you're missing from this page, let me know!!

About
28th November 2013
Yet another case of AGameAWeek Gold being strangely interconnected with other events in my life!!
Today, I posted about Star Trek Pong 3 earlier today, and it got me thinking about the even older Amiga edition.
Curiously, I also recently purchased a USB Capture device for my PC. I wanted to output all my consoles and computers through my PC's monitor. It has a HDMI port, but a Scart->HDMI device seemed a little pricey.
Being the cheapskate that I am, I instead settled for a Capture de...

AGameAWeek Gold is our occasional glance through the archive, to pluck out some of the great games that I've created over the many years that I've been doing this.
Along the way we'll discover some great gems that I'd forgotten about, or occasionally the odd bit of garbage that I'm frankly happy to have forgot about!
Today, we take a look at a strange little Pong game!

Just because I'm taking September off from my regular AGameAWeek schedule, doesn't mean there won't be fun times ahead! I've decided to keep you entertained with a few oddities that have collected on my hard drive for the past decade or so, but have mostly been unpublished due to being "a bit shit", or me having lost their sourcecode.
These are games that I've always considered to be part of my archive, but for various reasons I've never actually bothered to add to the thing.
Games that I occas...

300? Blog
15th August 2013
Coming up is a game that I've been building up over the past week or so.
On August 27th, I'll be releasing the wonderful game BlastTrax.
The game started well enough, but soon spiraled out of control as I realised it was much better than the quick experiment that it started life as.
Rather timely, too, as it means I can release it as #300.

AGameAWeek Gold takes a look at the games that I've previously released on this day in history.
It's basically filler material!
But that's ok, because it's usually a nice trip down memory lane.

In a change to our regularly scheduled April-Project, I've decided to stop pulling my hair out, and instead do something different.
Grrr..
What we're left with, however, is a nice happy little game for up to four players, so that's nice.

The Amiga was nearing the end of its life cycle and my local Game store was slowly getting rid of its Amiga stuff. It was sad to find all your favourite games crammed into that little corner of the store where only the geekiest kids would huddle.
Then one day, I spotted a bright blue stripy box.

In windows, to add a tab to the left of 3 or 4 lines, I've settled into the habit of doing either one of two things..
1. Up, Home, Tab, Up, Home, Tab, Up, Home, Tab, Up, Home, Tab.
Which goes up per line, heads to the far left, then places a tab.

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going.
Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up.
If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better
The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up.
Anyhoo, this is a n...
