Hunting for Files

As I poke and prod around my new NAS drive, there are still gaps remaining.
My Midi and Mod archive is entirely missing. I never did manage to get them from my old hard drives, and now I'm starting to wonder how on earth I'm going to manage to do it.
For the most part, the Mod Archive can be re-grabbed from Aminet, where I originally got most of it. But there were various other sites that have been and gone in that time, which had wonderful tunes.
My Min...

Not a very productive day, yesterday, if I'm honest.
I continued to play about with that Lester&Ralph theme, but I'm hitting the same roadblock as the last time, with the Sheep Goes Right theme, in that the characters run at the same constant speed so the entire point of the Combo system is completely ruined.
I'm not sure what I can add to mix it up, and am desperately playing with all manner of elements to see if I can find that one little thing that suddenly makes ...

In the past couple of nights, I've begun to work on AL's new AL Bum, and have decided that it's going to be titled "Liquid"
As per the past few AL Bums, each track will have a different ALphabetical title, from A-Z, but this time with the added benefit of all the tracks being vegetables.
Why?

Yesterday's first task was, of course, to add the Basketball Hoop back into SpikeDislike3.
The mechanic works the same.. Be "roughly" within the right area, and go down through the hoop to score. If you go up through the hoop, you lose your combo.
It sure is evil, this Basketball game!

A somewhat eventful day, yesterday, but one that took WAY too long!!
As I finished off the last of the levels, and got the game working toa moderately lovely standard, I figured I might as well start throwing bits and pieces into iTunes.
I've still got a number of days until Invisible Munky (hopefully) passes AppleReview, so I can relax and take my time with all the iTunesConnect gubbins.
Starting with the the description, the screenshots, the icon, I continued...

Not a lot of progress, yesterday.
A LOT of stuff happened, but nothing substantial enough that I can show it off!
I started adding background layers to SpikeDislike3, but at the minute it's all nasty looking temporary art. I'm quite surprised, however, that it worked as well as it did in the Faux-3D mode. Mmm.. Parallax!
It took a LOT of effort to get the new elements in place, and I'm hoping that the iPhings (at least) can cope with everything that's going o...

Continuing with the new edition of SpikeDislike, and I'm still adding basic elements into the engine.
I've a whole lot of work to do on the game, including all the graphical styles and things like that, but for now I'm happy that it's totting up the combos in the way it should be.

It was somewhat inevitable that we'd have to revisit the world of SpikeDislike, and since the last game was released around about a year ago, I might as well treat us all to a brand new release!

I have no issues with the game.
It's a bit shit, but then so is SpikeDislike.. SpikeDislike is "ball bounces, move right..." and has little or no substance beyond that.
Of course, I then added a wonderful combo system, and then made a sequel with oodles of lovely new gameplay styles and plenty of options and such, but at it's heart it's still the same game it always was. Ball bounces, move right...
In many ways, so is flappy bird.
Flappy bird is "that helicopter game", but with hard...

I woke up late, this morning, and felt somewhat lethargic. I tried doing a bit of coding, but nothing seemed to fall into place, and I couldn't really be bothered to tackle anything.
I closed the laptop before dinner, and opted to give up on the day.
Here's what happened on my day off..

I don't normally do "Postmortem" type blog posts, but figured I might as well start.
Not sure whether this will become a regular thing, or not, but I thought it'd be nice to keep track of what happens after I post each game.
In future I might leave it until a good few days have passed, but the world of AGameAWeek tends to flow fairly rapidly. We'll have to judge it as it happens.
Anyway, welcome to the newest section of AGameAWeek, where I take a look at the stats and things, to help figu...

Welcome to the wonderfully colourful retro-styled world of Retroball!
A spectacular remake of the bat and ball classic, but with all new rules, combo scoring, and even a few powerups along the way.

SpikeDislike2 has just had a nice big update on the iOS AppStore, and I'm now thinking about what to add next, so I figured I'd make a nice rambling blog about it.
That's what this is!!
You can buy (URL "https://itunes.apple.com/app/id604867277">SpikeDislike2 in the AppStore)! It's nice and cheap, and full of lovely juicy stuff!

Hardly the worlds most imaginative title for this week's game, and mostly a cop-out graphics wise, but I was trying out a gameplay style, so that's where most of the focus went.
Was it a success?

Last night I had a random idea, and drew up a silly board game.
Since then, the idea has annoyingly festered, and so this morning, I'm doing a complete relaunch of yesterday's silly idea, complete with all new advanced rules!

SpikeDislike2 will be released on March 5th, 2013

A simple Breakout game with only one level.
Taking the "Keep it in play" scoring method from Centipong, I've tried to make it so that clearing the first level in breakout doesn't always result in exactly the same damn score every single feckin' time. .. That ALWAYS pissed me off!
So, keep the balls juggling to super-combo your score, and see how many points you can manage from just one wall.

54 games. Last year I only managed about 30-odd, so I think that's pretty good going.
Sure, it might not have truely actually been A Game "Per" Week, but I did at least keep the ratio up.
If I hadn't taken the time out to build the framework, I probably would've actually achieved the target a little better
The stats show I was pretty much on top of things up until that point, but then things got slower and slower until my buffer zone was all dried up.
Anyhoo, this is a n...

A couple of days ago I posted my first test compilation of a Mac game.
I asked for test-based feedback, and absolutely nobody responded, whatsoever. We're just going to have to go for the "Worked on mine, *shrugs*" approach for these!!
Today, I'm rereleasing the game from Wednesday with a quick fix, and also releasing a bunch of other games that I've written in BlitzMax.
We've also got JNKPlat and Gravity Bombs to come, but I want to tweak those a little before I rerelease them.

(note, this is a bit waffley, and tends to jump about from point to point!!)
Today I've been working on the editor.
It's been a bit of a challenge, trying to think of every little think you might use, and also the keys for all of it, but I think it's coming along quite well.
Draw with the mouse to draw, left for the selected tile, right for blank.
