The last time I posted this game, back in late 2010, it was available on Windows, Linux, MacOSX and even on iOS!
This time around, I'm using a completely different programming language, and I'm not entirely settled into things yet, so we're launching on only 3 platforms, instead.

OK, folk are getting intrigued as to how all of this is working, and how nice the Monkey language is to work with, so in the spirit of not being a complete and total git, here's the complete everything that there is so far..

The Download

Framework Downloads have been removed due to lack of updates!
I've also left the html5 build intact, so you can give it a little run if you don't have Monkey installed. (I think!)
Should be as simple as going into the .build folder, t...

So, here we go again.
We're up to Year 5, and hopefully we'll get a full year out of it, this year (nnngh).
With Monkey, we get a chance to go back over our previous games, and remake them for a new audience, with iOS, Android and Browser based versions. I expect this will prove to be an exciting year.
Given that we can play at showing off, what games do you think would work best, and adapt well to the new touchy/mouse based gameplay options?
Or, what games could prove to be an obsc...

Welcome aboard, Tam Toucan, you're apparently the only one interested in the job of testing my crazy shit, so you're now chief tester!
I've no idea when the first test engine will be ready to get to you, but I can't imagine it'll be too long a wait.. Maybe a week or so..?
Keep your eyes on AGameAWeek for progress reports!
Meanwhile, I did a teensy bit of audio testing, yesterday, and can happily report that Monkey can pitch it's audio, unlike a certain other languag...

<a href="https://bit.ly/iOS_NeonPlat">NeonPlat iOS is now available in the AppStore</a>. o/yeayo/
There are a few changes, most notably that you no longer get to paint the tiles.
The tile painting was one of the complaints when things were in giant HD graphics, so I kinda figured things might be even worse when downgraded to such a teensy tiny screen!
Hmmm..

Today I've managed to complete the following amazing achievements.
1. Get two dice to roll on the screen.

A lot of elements are currently coming together, and things are getting a little more chaotic than I'd like them to be around Xmas time.
If the past 2 years of Xmas themed chaos (12 games of Xmas, Advent Collection) have taught me one thing, it's not to EVER plan anything around Xmas!
Presents, family visits and the general filling of my face with Xmas cake, will usually get in the way of the coding time, and as such I decided not to push myself into anything moronic this year.
I apologise...

ugh..
I need to make a calendar for the iOS edition.
The Win/Lin/Mac (WiLMa) edition is also a bit screwy, so we'll add "New Calendar" to the 2nd releases todo list.
Might as well see if I can code 2 things at once, then, and rework the calendars at the same time.

At the moment, I'm sending occasional beta editions of NeonPlat Adventures to two people.
One is AuthenticKaizen (/PixelProspector).
He got instant beta-status, because he started the whole NeonPlat thing.
This is all his fault!!

As much as this is still technically playable, I wouldn't consider this to be finished.
It started off well enough, built up ok, but then kinda got a bit dull and boring.
Then I couldn't be bothered fixing the "Gets Stuck" issue.

I've suffered with migraines my whole life, so whenever one attacks, I can usually get rid of it by about mid-afternoon.
The basic motions are as follows.
Step 1. Paracetamol.
Nothing stronger, since I've taught my body to control the migraines so well.

Today I'm focussing my blog on iOS trials and tribulations. The basic steps of designing a game when working with iOS.
These are pretty simple things, and should be apparent, but .. having played a fair number of iOS games.. they're not always done!
Note, this isn't really about my actual development, as such, more the train of thought that generates the end result.
In a future bloggy thing, I might focus more on the what/where, than the how/why that this does. Let me know if ...

Back at school I used to randomly write thoughts into my jotter. Not school-based stuff, of course. I was an idea-filled coder, back then!
Lately, the ideas are few and far between, as anyone who's been following AGameAWeek lately has noticed.
My "Waffle" was general thoughts about gui layouts, game thoughts, and then anything else that randomly appeared along the way.
I'm starting to think that it might be a good idea to restart that old habit.
