Developments

Spent yesterday powering through a quick monster-maze game.
Managed to build a basic dungeon layout builder, got monsters wandering around, and generally made a nice playable little game.

Motivation seems to have taken a bit of a nosedive, this week.
I think the lack of SpikeDislike3 sales is starting to get to me, as every time I open the folder, I spend about 10 minutes staring at the code before closing it up again.
I feel like moving on to something else. Maybe that'll help kick me back into gear again.

I was going to do keys, but then I thought "Oh, sod it, let's use Floppy Disks!!"
So, the ship flies around the maze picking up the three different coloured disks, which it then pops into the .. umm.. Let's call it a magic door!
Collect all three, take them home, level complete.
I now need to add enemies, other deadly things, and a wea...

After having played about with the maze layout a little, and getting the scrolling a little more workable, I added a little sprite for testing movement.

Seems like we're heading down the Cybernoid route with this one!
Next up, adding collision detection, 'cos right now there's nothing stopping the little ship from floating out into space!

I'm still not sure what sort of game I'm making, but I appear to have narrowed it down to two possible candidates.

Since I'm spacing out my dev-time, I should hopefully have more time to do Dev-Diary type posts, as the games progress.
Hopefully, this will give you a little more insight into the sort of decision making that goes into AGameAWeek. I'll also try to take the time to add odd bits and pieces of craptastic-useless-trivia whenever I get the chance.
As frequent players will have noticed, I've been using a strange secondary numbering system for a long while. (Check out the Windows-Downloads to see th...

An unexpected arrival, as my major 2-week-long project somehow manages to cram itself into the space of just a week.
Not entirely sure how that happened, if I'm honest..

Welcome to the Top 13 AGameAWeek Games of 2013
No other Top-10 lists appear to want to give any of my games any recognition at all, which kinda sucks since I've made a whole bunch of REALLY great games, this year! I don't even get a token "Made a shitload of games, this year" mention!
Sucks!!
So, sod them all, I'll make my own Top-10 list.

Karl's Tiny Adventure was created way, way, way back in March of this year.
You can (URL "https://AGameAWeek.com/GameList.php?ShowJust=288">Play Karl's Tiny Adventure here).
The game was my first true test of proper "Image Data Loading", and my first proper lesson in Android Fragmentation.
Annoyingly, because different Android devices operate in slightly different ways, the Image Data Loading wasn't occurring in an accurate manner, and as a result, the level data was getting all screwed...

Over the years, @Spinal_Cord has continued to perfect the stylings of the top-down maze genre.
Taking his cues from an old C64 game he once played, Sensitive, he has created a whole host of variations on the theme over the course of his time doing game-dev.
His latest effort in this genre sees him using the Monkey language, along with some lovely simple 2D commands, to generate a faux-3D look, which wouldn't look out of place in an old-school tech, or scene music demo.

As unplanned as AGameAWeek usually is, I at least have a rough idea of what'll be occurring.
Tuesdays, release a game. Wednesday's think about a game idea. Thursday/Friday start a game. Saturday/Sunday bulk the game out where necessary/possible, and Monday finish things up before we release it on Tuesday and start it all over again.
Along the way, we get trips into the AGameAWeek Gold archive, and there are other oddities like the Uninteresting Wallpapers, and other silly little things.

Another week, another sequel.
This week, we're revisiting the puzzle-maze world of Kee, Bo and Ard (Occasionally spelled "Key, Bo and Ard" due to me forgetting the spelling of the green character's name!)
I also need a couple of features tested, so there's quite a bit of rambling included below this post!

SpikeDislike2 has just had a nice big update on the iOS AppStore, and I'm now thinking about what to add next, so I figured I'd make a nice rambling blog about it.
That's what this is!!
You can buy (URL "https://itunes.apple.com/app/id604867277">SpikeDislike2 in the AppStore)! It's nice and cheap, and full of lovely juicy stuff!
