Since the XP era, I've been using the Microsoft SyncToy tool to do all my backups, and for the most part it's been doing a damn good job of keeping everything duplicated, over the many different harddrives/NAS's that I've gradually destroyed through the years.
A few days ago, however, it started behaving very oddly, and I'm not really sure why.
I have a feeling that it's due to Monkey's use of Build folders, and the fact that each game I've written over the past 3 ye...

I spent most of yesterday trying to get a lot of broken things to work, but nothing seemed to happen.
Still no progress on the NextGen-PlayJam device, which is still crashing like a crazy driver.
Still no progress on getting all of my audio to play on the LastGen-PlayJam device, which seems to ignore every 10th-or-so PlaySound command.

Wasn't in much of a coding mood, last night, so ended up doing a bit more music, instead.
I also spent an hour and a half watching the Stargate SG1 two parter, Mobius, although I'm not entirely sure why!
I was actually in the mood to watch Continuum, but Continuum wasn't on Netflix and I couldn't be bothered pulling out the laptop, and piddling around with those old-fashioned DVD things.
.. I really oughta backup all my DVDs to my Network Drive, some day. Hmm....

Guess what I tried doing, last night...?
If you read the title of this blog entry, and know how smooth and silky my current Dev-Kit is, you've probably guessed "A quick iOS Compile", and, of course, you'd be right!
I'm currently midway through attempting to get a Free "LITE" edition of SpikeDislike3 onto the App Store.

Melodical Developments

Last night I re-rendered and uploaded the entire (URL "https://archive.org/details/PrecariousAlBum">Precarious Al Bum to Archive.org)
Annoyingly, I forgot to trim the tails on the tracks, so they all end with about a half-a-second of silence. Ooops..
I'll have to poke around in Archive.org's settings and see if I can update the files, but I imagine they're probably going to have to stay like that.

More files..
Found a whole bunch of old videos on one of my old hard drives, so spent literally HOURS, last night, copying them over to the NAS drive.
Bah.
Windows 10 seems to focus a lot on file transfers, meaning my laptop was practically unusable whilst the transfer was taking place. I certainly didn't have that issue last week when transferring millions of files from NAS to NAS, so it's either Win10 that's doing it, or the fact that I was transferring from...

Hunting for Files

As I poke and prod around my new NAS drive, there are still gaps remaining.
My Midi and Mod archive is entirely missing. I never did manage to get them from my old hard drives, and now I'm starting to wonder how on earth I'm going to manage to do it.
For the most part, the Mod Archive can be re-grabbed from Aminet, where I originally got most of it. But there were various other sites that have been and gone in that time, which had wonderful tunes.
My Min...

Last night, as I lay in bed, a silence suddenly enveloped the room.
It was unlike anything I'd heard in the past couple of weeks.
Total, complete and utter silence.

Yesterday was one of those Lazy days. Currently my laptop is doing a (URL "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SyncToy">SyncToy) backup of my GameDev and WebDev folders, which as you can probably imagine, isn't very good for it's battery! I've had the thing plugged in permanently for about a day and a half, and the damn thing's still slaving away copying hundreds and thousands of files.
Eeek!

In the past couple of nights, I've begun to work on AL's new AL Bum, and have decided that it's going to be titled "Liquid"
As per the past few AL Bums, each track will have a different ALphabetical title, from A-Z, but this time with the added benefit of all the tracks being vegetables.
Why?

I awoke this morning to find that FileZilla had crashed.
I'm using FileZilla to do a complete file transfer from my old NAS drive to the new one.
I'm not sure how far it got, or why it crashed, but crash it did, so I had to restart the whole bloomin' thing. Grrr. It's been set to "Skip if identical" to that at least should speed it up a bit.

But I didn't.

Twitter Rant

This morning, I'm battling with Twitter.
A short while ago, Twitter introduced a new "Easy to use!" way to reply to things, which is less messy and leaves more space for your reply. Essentially, the "New Reply" strips away everybody's @names, leaving just a single link back to the previous post.
In many ways, this is a nice thing, as when you're in the middle of a conversation with 5 or 6 people, it can typically leave about 3 characters for your reply to fit in!!

People keep asking about how I manage to code AGameAWeek, and one thing they all eventually pick up on is that I'm currently doing it all with Monkey.
(URL "https://monkeycoder.co.nz">Monkey) is a fantastic language which allows for all manner of different targets, and does a great job doing what it does.
It isn't perfect, and it's not for everyone, but it suits me down to the ground.
As with any development tool, it all comes down to preference, and whether or not you agree with the me...
